The hotel is like the city. You would come here for business rather than for pleasure. There is not that much in the way of tourism in Montevideo, but still it was worth the boat trip on Buquebus from Buenos Aires. The hotel is your standard 3 star business hotel. We spent one night at the Balmoral Plaza Hotel and all I have to say is that it is completely overpriced for the dark outdated rooms you get that eventhough non smoking smell of smoke. The mini bar contained 4 bottels of water and a Twix!! that was it. For 60 U.S. dollars off seaon it was a rip off. more

The internet service which someone mentioned was dial up appears to have been updated because it was not slow, though another computer would be nice.
