I went to Montevideo, Uruguay when working on a commercial and our production service company placed us at the Sheraton, Montevideo. While there is a major (and pleasant) shopping mall directly behind the hotel, you are essentially in the middle of nowhere. Yes, you are two blocks from the beach, but it isn't a beach you really want to stroll.... more

I stayed at this hotel on the Executive floor in April this year (2008). The best part about the hotel was that it was located adjacent to a mall so there was always the option to eat out or just window shop. Sheraton Punta Carretas is a very nice 5 stars hotel in Punta Carretas neighborhood, close to Pocitos beach, the best in Montevideo. Upon entering this Sheraton property, we knew that we were going to be treated well, for the door man greeted us with a great welcome, that looked for friendly smile.
