If you're not looking for fancy stuff, this is for you. People are nice, staff is friendly and helpful. If you're going to Montevideo looking for rest, then this place is not for you. Very well located, near a good mall with a nice supermarket and exchange house, but rooms and bathrooms are not very clean, which is a shame.

We needed somewhere to sleep last minute. This place was pretty expensive for a hostel, and totally wasn't worth it. We booked a private room and when we arrived the bed wasn't even made. They gave us sheets and told us to make it ourselves. The trash was overflowing. The bathroom was a mess. Would not recommend. However there are... More

Very nice and quiet Hostel/Bed & Breakfast in a nice and safe area of Montevideo. Great location near a big shopping center and the La Rambloa and 10 mins walk to Playa Pocitos. I stayed here for a few weeks and got to know the staff on friendly basis, there very friendly helpful and will go out of there way... More

This is a large family house with rooms for guests. It is near the beach and Punta Carretas shopping mall. There is a common kitchen with self-service. The kitchen and a dining room was not maintained enough. I would say the landlady was on holidays. Our room was small and suitable for one night. Common bathroom wasn't clean enough. Anyway... More

The good: I really liked the people I met here – the family that owns the hostel, their friends, and other guests from Argentina, Brazil, and other countries. Everyone was friendly and great about sharing the computer (with high-speed internet access) and their food. The location, 2 blocks from the rambla along the Río de la Plata and 2 blocks... More

Hostel location is good, next to the beach, shopping mall and the neighbourhood is nice. The beds are comfortable. We booked a room for 9 people with shared bathroom in the ground floor. Unfortunately the room entrance was not closed until the ceiling, it means that is very noise... There is only one shared bathroom with shower for 20 people!... More

We recently stayed at Hostel Montevideo Up and we were lucky for it. We were greeted by the warm owner, Fernando and even though they didn't have a room ready for us, they offered for us to make ourselves at home. The wait was worth it because they put us in an even better room than the one we requested... More

We took a group of students to Uruguay and all 25 of us were able to stay Montevideo UP. I highly recommend this hostel if you're traveling on a budget - it's run by a very sweet family and is in a safe location. While it isn't in the Old City or near the port, it's just a couple blocks... More

I say I am very grateful for the reception of the hotel staff, really was a pleasure your attention, your kindness, especially since I was in a country not known. The beauty of the hotel is that you get a city map, guide you on tours, have a list of tours and things to do, also guide you at nightlife,... More

The hostal is located in a nice neighbourhood, close to the coast and you can reach the center easily by bus. The people who run the hostal were welcoming and friendly. There is a spacious bathroom, which was unfortunately not really clean while we were there. Rooms were simple and small but okay and we slept very well there, even... More
