Great place, especially the rooftop pool area, great service, staff members "con corazón", delicious breakfast. People living in the really poor neighborhood don't appreciate to be surrounded by well-off tourists.

We booked initially for just 3 nights, but ended up staying a week. We used this hotel in Montevideo as a base for trips along the Uruguay coast. It's a lovely boutique hotel with the best staff. A big thanks to Ignacio, Nicolas and Gonzalo who were very helpful with renting a vehicle, giving directions, recommending restaurants and any other... More

My wife and I spent 1 night in the Don Boutique hotel last July. (Context - I am an experienced traveler and have visited nearly 50 countries ex-U.S. My stays have run the gamut from budget hostels to $500/night hotels, thanks to my job for the latter. In any event, not my first rodeo.) The Don Boutique required us to... More

Good location - right by the port from where we were heading off the next day to Buenos Aires and the port market, around which there were some OK restaurants. There is a nice rooftop pool area and bar (though we didn´t go to the latter when it was open). Glass of fizz on arrival was a nice touch. The... More

I spent two nights at the Don by myself this past week. There didn't seem to be many other guests at the time. The room had 2 twin beds. It was clean though there is a bit o wear and tear in the bathroom. I am a rather slender lad and when using the sink outside the bathroom, my shoulders... More

A really lovely hotel - we had a superior room - spacious, sleek, clean. Beds are fantastic. Good value. Location a bit dodgy - old city supposedly very dangerous at night - so we had to get a taxi even just a few blocks. Not sure we got the best of MVD staying here. Imagine with a lot more investment... More

There are many great reasons to stay at the Don. It could be the location. It's stationed near the edge of the pedestrian mall adjacent to a small clutch of restaurants as well as the Buquebus terminal. It could be the service. We were promptly greeted both pleasantly and with champagne. That goes a long way to setting the mood... More

We booked the Don Boutique hotel for a night when passing through Montevideo. The hotel is immaculate in every respect and one that we would highly recommend. Upon arrival at the hotel we were warmly welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and plenty of information about how to find the sights. Our room was modern and clean with great... More

Arriving into Montevideo by bus from Colonia we jumped into a taxi for the ride to the Don Boutique Hotel. We were surprised the driver entered a pedestrian street and parked directly outside the door. Maybe this area was as dangerous as we had read! Into the hotel and wow what a welcome. I have never been offered champagne before... More
