The reception stash at Hotel Iberia are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is well situated, close enough to the centre to be able to walk there in a few minutes, without being in the noise itself. We liked the area and did not think it unsafe.

We stayed a couple nights in a very basic double room on the second floor. It had a view to an interior window well. The airconditioning did not work and the room smelled strongly of smoke (as did the "breakfast area" and the entrance where staff were often smoking with the door open). The room was dingy, needed paint and... More

Good value but it is a 2 star rated hotel so do not expect plush towels, toiletries, etc. Breakfast not included. Nor do many at the front desk speak English. They are all very friendly however and seemed overly concerned about our safety. Clean smallish rooms, excellent WiFi. A bargain but not a five star hotel.

How this hotel managed to get such good ratings I can’t begin to imagine. We were staying over the road at the Sur Hotel. A very nice hotel (much nicer than the Iberia), but there was some problem with the hot water. After reading the rave reviews about how friendly the staff are here, we couldn’t believe it when we... Hotel Iberia is a gem you might overlook if you were merely walking by. It might be called a pension in Paris, or a boutique hotel in Mexico City, and it is thoroughly unpretentious. But it provided a very comfortable rest for my wife and me for one night in Montevideo at an unbelievably low price (US$56). The service is... More

Nice and clean hotel, with great location. You can walk to Ciudad Vieja and most historical places. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful. There are good restaurants nearby and a supermarket. The only downside was the room that has an old decoration and furniture.

My wife, a friend of mine and I were visiting my friend's daughter, a student, in Montevideo. We wanted a nice, clean hotel close to our friend's daughter's apartment. Hotel Iberia was only two blocks away. The person at the front desk was reasonably courteous and efficient. My wife and I, both in our late sixties, were tired when we... More

We stayed at this hotel for two nights in October, and we loved it! It's a budget hotel with no elevator. We were on the top floor but had no problems navigating through it. We arrived late at night and the owner received us with a detailed description of the city and recommendations for our day there. Staff was very... More

We are renting a condo in downtown Montevideo this month, but our flight was arriving in the middle of the night, so we needed somewhere to stay just for our first night in town. Hotel Iberia was perfect for us. When we arrived at 2 in the morning, a very friendly lady was there at the front desk to welcome... More
