This was definitely the best option in all of ollantaytambo for price, quality and experience. The staff speak english and are INCREDIBLY helpful with all of the insider secrets to the sacred valley (saved me loads of money). There is a beautiful terrace and delicious breakfast and the location is unbeatable. The wifi was good; it is the same in... More

The hostel was totally renewed and is a great place to stay in Ollanta. The rooms have a great area and the hostel an incredible view. Staff is very supportive, including in the day that I came to MP made me a great lunch to carry since that I left the hostel before the breakfast. And girls, they have a... More

I stayed here for four nights just about a week ago, it was a great hostel with comfortable rooms. Extremely kind and helpful staff, I arrived without reservation and they were very accommodating. I speak very little Spanish and if one of the english speakers wasn't present they would put me on the phone with them. The staff was very... More

Sumak Chaska is one of my favorite hostels in Peru. I stayed there more than one week and it started to feel like home. It's clean, beds are comfy, there is a good kitchen you can use, and hot shower works every day. Even wi-fi works there usually, and that's a miracle in Ollantaytambo. There's also a cute puppy and... More

This hostel was not awful, but it definitely was not great. The staff was occasionally helpful and nice, and then other times they were not. There was NEVER toilet paper in the shared girls' bathroom. I had to ask for it at least 4 times. The shower water was boiling hot. I ended up taking a cold one twice. Positive... More

I stayed at Sumac Chaska Hostal for two nights in the dorm room and found this place absolutely charming. It has a little green backyard and a terrace from which you can see all of Ollantaybamba including nice views on the ruins (plus watch out for the little friendly spirits in form of bulls on the rooftop!). The hotel is... More

This is a really nice place to stay, the room was warm and clean. A typical peruvian breakfast the next morning and we were on our way! It has a nice homely feel and a worth a visit if you are not in a rush after the train ride down!! This is a town that you should stay a little... More

Our volunteer group of 14 members recently stayed here for 4 nights and had a very mixed experience. The hostel has a great location, is clean, and the rooms are comfortable. We were charged a price of S/. 30 per person per night. The owners comprise a Peruvian family as well as a woman from England. Upon making our reservation... More

We welcome groups to Sumac Chaska and have lots of experience of successfully hosting groups of 10 to 30 people. Not all groups are the same however, and principally it comes down to good communication between the group leader and us. This group was a ‘Gap Year’ organization claiming to be volunteers (@18 years of age) on which basis they... More

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! The owners are lovely and provide excellent tips on local sites, transportation, etc. We especially enjoyed cooking in the spacious and well equipped kitchen, so nice to be able to really cook! One of the nicest hostals i've stayed at in Perú.

Thank you for your review, we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. Your cooking was delicious, thank you for the samples and taste swaps. You were so tolerant of the American group that did not return the respect and sharing spirt you so gracesously demonstrated every day. I am certain you girls will have a fabulous experience in South... More

There are many many hostels and B&B in Ollantaytambo. From very cheap to more luxury. We stayed in this friendly hostel for a few nights and would recommend it. The best thing about this hostel is the owner Cali (sorry for my wrong spelling). He is a local and speaks perfect English. He gave us some good and secret tips... More
