I'm a bit undecided about this lodge after staying here for a couple of nights. On the one hand, there is something really charming about it - the setting is beautiful and the garden is lovely. The rooms were quite basic but clean and had hot, quite powerful showers. On the other hand, service was a bit "random" - there... More

When we arrived there was a notice on the desk - the whole town would be without power from 07:00 to 17:00 the next day. When my friend asked how this would affect us he was lectured in a rambling manner on this was Peru, it only affected this life, and so on. Quietly quite offensive. A few persons though... More

Apu Lodge sits at the edge of town with spectacular views of the Andes mountains and the terraces of Ollantaytambo temple. From the main square, it's a good 5-10 minute walk up a cobblestone walkway to the lodge. From the Ollantaytambo train station it's a 20-30 minute walk uphill to the lodge. If you are arriving by taxi, I recommend... More

A lovely little place in an out-of-the-way part of town, backed up against a sheer cliff face and nestled among the quaint narrow avenues. The staff are all friendly and very accommodating. The garden provides a pleasant place to relax. Tasty, fresh breakfast in the morning. The Wi-Fi is only available in the lobby, but why would you want to... More

This is not luxury nor is it a dump. I would describe it as visiting a friends cottage. Basic accommodation, no TV, no telephone, weak WIFI, a very good bed and outstanding views. Breakfast is reasonable and would meet your expectations for a B&B. I did enjoy sitting outside watching the hummingbirds in the garden. Ollantaytambo is like no other... More

Tucked away under the gaze of Viracocha on a lane with a babbling brook, i think this sums up this great little hotel, peace & serenity. Experience starts with nice young man who helps with bags on his quaint tricycle. The rooms are quiet (when no one walks upstairs) and very large. Morning shower was a bit fraught when the... More

Our family (2 adults and 2 children ages 11 and 13) stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip in the Sacred Valley. Pros: on a quiet cobblestone alley - peaceful and not too far from main square beautiful grounds powerful, hot shower nice views large family room - plenty of space and shelves Neutral: breakfast -... Apu Lodge is one of those special places where the guest experience comes first. Gustavo, the manager, was warm, engaging and interesting. Nestled off the beaten path and surrounded by a beautiful garden full of gorgeous flowers and 50 types of hummingbirds. Omelette for breakfast was the best; organic eggs made the difference. Had the opportunity to participate in a... More

We stayed at the Apu lodge for one night in March prior to heading out on the Inca Trail. The beds were comfortable, the staff very friendly (and with good English - the owner, who was running the desk when we checked in, is a native English speaker), and the environs quiet and beautiful. The lodge is a little off... More
