Stayed at Apu Lodge when visiting Machu Picchu. Flew into Cuzco, Peru to catch the taxi Apu Lodge had set up for us. 2 hr ride to Ollantaytambo, Peru. Lodge is set off the Main Street, a 5 min walk up cobblestone walk street with a water trough right along the side. Hotel picked up our luggage and transported to... More

Upsides: When I travel, It is important to me that where I stay cares for the local environment. I was impressed with the water filtration system and serving of free-range eggs. There was a great description of how to ensure a warm water shower in the book for guests in room 22. Ruth and Daz responded to several emails that... More

Can't beat the beautiful view and grounds, including hammocks. We had a very comfortable room. Reserved a triple for the three of us but were given very spacious two room "suite", one room with triple and one with double bed. Too bad our entire family of five not here! Beds comfortable. Plenty of hot water. Substantial breakfast includes fresh papaya... More

The lodge is "remote" if you want to call it that but it is not a far walk from the main square. The walk to the lodge is nothing shy of magnificent. Even though the walk is no more than 5 minutes, you feel a sense of peacefulness and calm as it is nestled up against a mountain with a... More

Wonderful place. Friendly stuff. Great food. We loved the location, right next to the local mountain. Quiet and serene. We had a very nice comfortable room. Beautiful gardens outside. Will come back if we can.

It is kept very clean, beds are comfortable, breakfast is huge and fresh. Louisa as the creator of this wonderful place has thought of everything to make it unique, sustainable and cozy. She knows the greatest... More

We stayed 2 weeks in mid November making trips to Pizac, Machu Pichu, Morey and Urubamba. I can not say enough about how comfortable the rooms were including the beds and how accomodating the staff was. Luisa is the owner and her 2 children would arrive after school, which made the whole experience feel more like a family home rather... More

Staff (most of whom speak fluent English) are enormously friendly and helpful. The location -- a few blocks away from the bustle of the Plaza de Armas -- is quiet with fabulous views of nearby Inca ruins. Rooms are simple but quite comfortable. In addition to a wonderful breakfast, excellent food for dinner is available by the talented and amiable... More

We stayed her in April with our kids 7 and 10 before doing the Machu Picchu trek. We had a huge family room. We loved the view out our windows. Our children enjoyed playing on the swing and in the garden. The breakfast was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the small town of Ollantaytambo. Great... More
