Really enjoyed our 1 night here. The location is unbeatable if your only reason from being in Ollantaytambo is to take the train to Machu Picchu the next day. Its literally through the barriers on the train platform - romantic location, packed full of rustic charm, trains arriving and taking off whilst enjoying dinner/coffee etc - gorgeous. Probably once in... more

Even tho it is located next to the train tracks, El Albergue is an oasis for travelers in the Sacred Valley. Everything about the hotel is comfortable. We had a delicious meal of homemade pasta and the best pisco sour we had in Peru. If we ever were to return to Peru, we would make this our base for visiting... more

My wife and I stayed at El Albergue for 3 nights in late June in the middle of a 3 week tour of Peru. It was by far our favorite place to stay and we'd go back in a heartbeat. The hotel is cahrming, well-kept historic property dripping with character and a gorgeous and quiet courtyard (a bit surprising considering... more

Friends in the UK recommended "the place right on the station platform" to us and we can fully understand why. If Machu Picchu is part of your Peru itinerary, the Albergue makes getting there all-but-painless. On the outbound journey, you really can walk straight from your breakfast table (taking their good-value packed lunch bags with you) to your reserved seat... more

If we didn't end our trip staying at a super chic hotel in Lima, this hotel would have been our favorite of our whole trip. You can't tell from the oustide entrance of this hotel, but inside is a super cute and charming courtyard where the rooms are found. The hotel staff is perfection! We had an issue with our... more

We stayed at El Abergue on the way back from Aguas Calientes. It was our most pleasant hotel experience in Peru. Beautiful courtyard, expansive views and pleasant airy rooms. tThe hotel was built in the 1920's and has that feel. It's mysterious and romantic, like you're in the movie Casablanca. The restaurant next door is superior. They made the best... more

I've traveled through Europe and the British Isles, Southeast Asia and India, and stayed in campgrounds, basic hostels, and B & Bs as well as five-star hotels. For lovely homelike comfort without the housework, El Albergue is my favorite place to date, and I'll rush back there the first chance I get. The hotel was built in the 1920s, and... more

We stayed three nights. We felt at home in the quiant architecture of this historic hotel. White stucco, dark wood beams, shutters and doors. Simple furnishings and Windy Weeks beautiful paintings adorning the walls. We enjoyed the courtyard and therestaurant served wonderful meals and delicious breads. Best shower I had in Peru. The service was wonderful. Oh I was concerned... more

We stayed at the Albuergue with our two young children and found the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, well decorated, comfy warm beds and great hot showers. Food was delicious. We also very much appreciated their commitment to reducing waste by not offering plastic bottled water and encouraging guests to use re-usable water containers that they... more
