What do I remember best about El Albergue? The bed! Our room had a wonderful KING bed, which was heavenly after scrunching ourselves into way too many bumpy, full-size mattresses on our two-month journey through South America. And it wasn't bumpy either, but quite comfy with crisp sheets and lots of pillows. The room itself was quite romantic, with the... more

We had such an amazing time here and wish we could have stayed longer. This is the PERFECT place to stay when in route to Machu Picchu; you wake up and you are right at the train station, ready for your journey to MP! We stayed in the gorgeous suite for 3 nights, our daughter played in the courtyard everyday,... more

The Albergue is a beautiful group of old buildings that may have been part of the train station in the old days because it is surprisingly located right where all the trains stop. As a result, there is a noise problem created by the trains coming and going and whistling, and also by the passengers waiting for the trains right... more

We stayed 1 night here and really enjoyed it. The room was large but rather basic. clean and overlooked the train tracks. The staff was very friendly and helfpul. As others have said the hotel is about 10 minutes walk to town and most restaurants. I highly recommend the hotel restaurant. Delicious! Breakfast was cooked and delicious. staff is trained... more

Just returned from our Peru adventure the 18th of October. We only stayed one night at the El Albergue but would have enjoyed more. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the hotels dining room and the breakfast was great! While the hotel is right on the train tracks the noise from the trains were never an issue. We were allowed... more

This hotel is right on the railroad station platform and I enjoyed staying there very much. It's very convenient when getting on/off in Ollenta. The breakfast, included with the room, was worth getting up for and the service was good. There was no TV in the room but the room was large and comfortable. The hotel also had dinner which... more

This is a lovely little B&B in Ollantaytambo. We were in room 01 which was the mini suite. It wasn't what I would call a suite but a large room with a romantic feel to it. I felt the website depicted the hotel accurately. El Albergue is away from the main square so we felt like our only option was... more

My husband and I stayed at El Albergue for one night. We were a little concerned when we heard we were staying right next to a train station but this place is a gem. The rooms were comfy and nice. It may be described as a boutique hotel. The decor was very fun. We stayed here after our hike on... more

Upstairs rooms are nicer, especially #5, and the upstairs of the small unit farther from the train tracks. We stayed in #1, with a step-up view of mountains and garden, table and one chair, two bright reading lamps, oil radiator, and wooden floors. Good hot water. No Internet. No TV. Breakfast was juice, eggs, pancakes, or granola, and bread. Dinners... more

We stayed overnight before catching an early train to Macchu Pichu. The location can't be beat. Walk right onto the train in the morning. There was a little train noise during the night, but not anything I would complain about. The owners have a very good small cafe serving Andean fusion cuisine. Be sure to try their homemade after dinner... more
