Nice house, cheap place, beautiful views but those kids who seem to run the hostel don't care at all. Dirty room and not cleaned bathroom, not functioning hot water, unfriendly and lying - first we agreed price and after coming back they changed it and tried to give us other rooms, did not want to give us towels as agreed,... Stayed in September of 2012. Booked online beforehand and got a great rate. Everything, (hotels, food, shopping) was very expensive since we were right at the base of Macchu Picchu. The room was clean with ample lighting. Had a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Amazing views. Made the cold shower worth it. Overall, great stay if you are... More

I'll start with the positives (since there aren't many!)... this is a cheap place to stay with a fairly central location (but then again Aguas Calientes is not a big town...). The negatives: My first impressions were bad as the man at reception tried to overcharge me. Then when I asked for the rate in soles he pulled a number... More

OK, there were a few good points: - Balconies at back facing river - accessible to all, not just people with rooms at back. - Beds were comfortable. - Rooms were clean. The bad and the ugly: - The hotel got the room wrong: we'd booked a river-facing room at the back and were given a road/railway facing room, though... More

My mission: Get up early, go to Machu Picchu. Leave Machu Picchu at close, eat out and come back to the hotel at night to sleep and repeat the process. This was a convenient place that was well worth the price. I just stayed here and don't know what the complaints are all about. For a mere $23 USD a... More

Right beside the train tracks, our bed shuddered every time a train went by which was quite often. Don't expect a good sleep! Staff were hard to deal with, tried to make us pay twice, be careful. Hallway smelled like sewage, wifi nonexistent, room was very unhigienic (bed sheets and towels were gross!), moldy ceiling, shower was lukewarm, wiring exposed... More

Pros: Just below the train station and just up the street from the bus to Machu Picchu, and nice views of the river from the balcony Cons: very little hot water (one my group didnt get a shower), rooms were dingy and the internet was not fuctioning. Breakfast was just bread and bananas (other hotel breakfasts in Peru were much... More

First of all the pictures included in Expedia of the rooms are very different from what we encountered. Second, it took us quite some time to find the hostel, no one picked us up at the train station as listed in some websites. Third, the hostel seems to be operated by kids who can't answer basic questions. Fourth, the rooms... More

This hostel cost around $25. I'd worked like crazy trying to find a comfortable hotel/hostel in Aguas Calientes. Hotels and hostels were either super pricey, or cheap and uncomfortable looking or sold out. I figured we were only staying there to have a decent night's sleep before heading up to Machu Picchu so I booked this place based on the... More
