They can charge what they want because they are the only game in town. Note that you are ONLY paying for the location. Which quite frankly may be worth it! The service is very good too but remember these are not luxury digs. The rooms are small and don't have AC, although you can request a fan. Be careful of... More

It was a fantastic situation and a great place for our wedding anniversary. We could enjoy an early morning stroll into Machu Picchu before the masses arrived. The orchid tour was also very interesting.

I visited Machu Picchu with daughter and we stayed at the Sanctuary. The rooms are small with no air conditioning. We had to request a portable unit which was really more like a fan and didn't work Having said that it is the most convenient place to stay and the staff was extremely helpful and very nice. The food at... More

My wife n I n a friend stayed at the Sanctuary Lodge at the Machu Picchu ruins thinking we would have a view of the ruins. We stayed in the Presidential Suite n had a private veranda w a view of the mountains. For the money spent it was not up to 5 star standards we r used to. Small... More

We were here to see Machu Picchu, not to spend our time in a fancy resort hotel, but the hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful. After reading the reviews, we were apprehensive about the condition of the rooms, but they exceeded our expectations. As noted, we spent very little time in our room, except to sleep,... More

We recently stayed at the Beldmond Sanctuary Lodge for our visit to Machu Pichu. We had considered staying at other hotels in Aguas Calientes (and there are some very good ones) as the cost of staying at the Sanctuary for one night was quite high. We opted for Sanctuary for several reasons. It is quite an experience in terms of... More

Life is a function of expectations, so you would have your own experience by staying here. For example, if you thought that its premium cost would mean a luxury resort, you might well be disappointed because it is ultimately a lodge (albeit clean, functioning, all-inclusive, and well-maintained one). Also, we stayed at one of the nicer rooms (a deluxe mountain... More

We stayed one night here. From the moment you arrive on the train at Agua Calientes, you are cared for. The hotel porters take care of your cases, whilst you board the bus that takes you to Machu Picchu. The hotel is not the plushest, but it has all you need. The restaurant is minimal but more than adequate. It... More

"paulyduckduck" below offers some excellent advice - he had obviously planned meticulously and I attempted the same for what was a major major anniversary for my wife and I. I had attempted a similar pilgrimage 15 years ago but an agent then booked us into the Hotel Ruinas Machu Picchu in Cusco without understanding that is not what I had... More

We enjoyed 2 perfectly luxurious nights here, just mere steps away from the park entrance. Total pampering is the way to describe the experience. "How can we help you?", "What can we do to make your day better?, "Please let us know if we can do ANYTHING for you." is just what we heard all day long and everywhere. We... More
