We recently stayed at the Beldmond Sanctuary Lodge for our visit to Machu Pichu. We had considered staying at other hotels in Aguas Calientes (and there are some very good ones) as the cost of staying at the Sanctuary for one night was quite high. We opted for Sanctuary for several reasons. It is quite an experience in terms of... More

Life is a function of expectations, so you would have your own experience by staying here. For example, if you thought that its premium cost would mean a luxury resort, you might well be disappointed because it is ultimately a lodge (albeit clean, functioning, all-inclusive, and well-maintained one). Also, we stayed at one of the nicer rooms (a deluxe mountain... More

We stayed one night here. From the moment you arrive on the train at Agua Calientes, you are cared for. The hotel porters take care of your cases, whilst you board the bus that takes you to Machu Picchu. The hotel is not the plushest, but it has all you need. The restaurant is minimal but more than adequate. It... More

"paulyduckduck" below offers some excellent advice - he had obviously planned meticulously and I attempted the same for what was a major major anniversary for my wife and I. I had attempted a similar pilgrimage 15 years ago but an agent then booked us into the Hotel Ruinas Machu Picchu in Cusco without understanding that is not what I had... More

We enjoyed 2 perfectly luxurious nights here, just mere steps away from the park entrance. Total pampering is the way to describe the experience. "How can we help you?", "What can we do to make your day better?, "Please let us know if we can do ANYTHING for you." is just what we heard all day long and everywhere. We... More

Firstly I have to say that anyone who is staying here and not going to re-visit Machu Picchu should reconsider immediately. You are paying a premium to stay here because of a very major historical site on your doorstep. Yes it is expensive, but it is all inclusive, so wine and beer on tap as is all the other facilities,... More

The only hotel on Machu Picchu that is 500+ feet from the entrance to the park and has only 30 rooms. The buses start to arrive at the park at 6:00 am which opens at 6:30 am and closes at 5:00 pm and the buses will transport the visitors off the mountain until all have left. The hotel is a... More

Very expensive---but if you can get it into your budget it will make all the difference in your visit to Machu Picchu. Instead of going up and back twice in the bus, at the end of the day you can collapse in your room, have a great dinner and unlimited free drinks [check if that is true when you visit!]... More

The only hotel up at Machu Picchu does not disappoint. Because the hotel door is located 30 seconds away from the entrance to Machu Picchu, the location alone would be enough to make our stay memorable. When the crowds have dwindled at Machu Picchu in mid afternoon, the hotel clients have the run of the amazing Machu Picchu site and... More

We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite. I wouldn't call it that, it was a nice room with a king bed and place to sit. It had a large outdoor seating area but it certainly wasn't Presidential. However the service was beyond wonderful. The food was great and the bar of course was perfect. All our meals were included and... More
