It rained off and on the 2 days we were at Machu Pitchu; we were able to avoid the rain in luxury at Sanctuary Lodge then fully enjoy the ruins as soon as the weather cleared. The staff was excellent. Special compliments to Maria Claudia and Rosevel for the attentive, personal service we received. Mucha gracias, Carlos & Maria

If your desire is to experience Machu Picchu with less crowds and for experiencing a sunrise in the citadel then stay here. The hotel is located at the entrance gate to Machu Picchu. With your ticket to Machu Picchu you are allowed to go in and out of the gate so you may visit multiple times a day when crowds... More

You can't beat the location of this hotel as it sits directly adjacent to the gate of Machu Picchu however the room we had we directly beside a room under construction. We could not open our patio doors to get fresh air because the smell of varnish was overwhelming and the noise was constant from dawn to dusk. The service... More

Everyone was very warm and friendly and met all of our needs. One woman, a former Inca Trail guide who led the video history session was extremely helpful in our planning for our morning sunrise and hiking plans. Staying right at the entry to the Sanctuary made a huge difference in our enjoyment of Machu Picchu. Everyone was very warm... More

In one word... Incredible! Although the rates are high, the service and location made it worth every dime. The staff is extremely attentive and no request is too much to ask. We felt pampered and relaxed

Being located just a few metres from the entrance to Machu Picchu makes this the only place to stay. The room we had was small ( according to the schematic in the room the smallest) but given that we did not come here to sit in it, it was adequate. Food was excellent and plentiful as were the drinks. All... More

Very disappointing for a high end hotel. Staff is great, but the only benefit is saving the morning bus from agua calientes. Not sure if that is worth $1000. Food is good, but not outstanding. Bathroom is tiny.

The rooms are very small and not at all luxurious, but you're here to see Machu Picchu, not to be pampered. Staying at the lodge enables you to spend more time exploring. We were able to see the most visited parts of Machu Picchu on our first day, and on our second day, we explored some trails that were not... More

Shame on me for not doing my homework. Our 14th anniversary, first time in Peru. Looking at all the good reviews and confused as to how there could be any. Perhaps Pachacamac was angry with us. This 2 week celebration began in Lima and halfway done as I write this review. We chose Belmond as our accommodation hotel. Anyone staying... More

I'm a value driven person. I was hesitant to stay at the Lodge from a financial perspective (the most I have ever spent on a room or probably ever will) and also because of the description of the rooms. However, I asked myself what the most important thing was to me and it was to be able to experience Machu... More
