The Belmond Sanctuary Lodge sounds expensive at first till you realize you don't have to pay to ride the bus up and down the hill more than one time; all your food is included; and with the lodge being the only hotel at Machu Picchu, before the tourists arrive, and once the tourists go home, you have the entire place... The sanctuary lodge is located right next to the entrance to Macchu Picchu. The staff here is wonderful, willing to assist in any way possible. The food in the restaurant as well as the afternoon tea is also wonderful. Make sure you make a reservation for the outdoor jacuzzi which has a great view of Machu Picchu. This great location... Stepping out of your hotel and being 20 steps away from the entrance to Machu Picchu is pretty amazing to say the least. Great location, great restaurant, Nice bar and remarkably good internet service (not for work...just to send pictures :))! It is very expensive but absolutely worth the experience of being able to see the views at sunset with... More

Wonderful experience, superb location, great service. We spent one night here when visiting Machu Picchu. We appreciated use of the Day Room facilities before and after checking in and out. The staff were able to coordinate everything from MP entrance tickets, guides, and luggage transfers.

Machu Picchu was a revelation and a "can't miss" on anyone's bucket list. However, we'd strongly recommend you avoid wasting extra money at the Belmond Sanctuary hotel - which is the only hotel located at the gates of Machu Picchu. The owners of this hotel (formerly Orient-Express) should be ashamed. For $1000/night, the service levels and quality of the hotel... More

I just returned from a trip last week to Machu Picchu where we stayed at the Sanctuary Lodge for a night and wanted to extoll the customer service showed by the staff. When we checked in, my father was experiencing a medical condition that was concerning. The hotel had a doctor on site who promptly came to his guest room... More

The mountain view rooms offer only a small window view not a full length view that I had expected but beautiful Wayna Picchu was not denied us from the terrace and it was gleaned in its full splendour from the hot tub higher up on the terrace. I'm glad I took the advice of the bell boy who gave us... More

OMG! This place is great. Our room was fifteen steps from being outside in Machu Picchu. How awesome is that? We stayed at Sanctuary Lodge on Machu Picchu for 3 days and 2 nights in July 2014. The lodge is small, because there just isn't a lot of space to put something like this on the grounds of something as... More

Location, location, location. As the only hotel AT Machu Picchu, you cannot beat it. Literally - it has no competition. We arrived via the Hiram Bingham train from Cusco, and had our luggage handled for us as we boarded the bus, and took the switchback drive up to the lodge. The hotel is smaller, not quite as posh as some... More

WOW! I dont even know where to start. For starters, it took me 1 month to consider spending a premium on the hotel and I am glad that I did. The service is impeccable. When we arrived at Machu Picchu station, there was a personnel to meet us at the exit of the train station. He took our luggage for... More
