If you can swing it, why stay any distance from one of the most spectacular and special places on earth? We were first in the gate to Machu Picchu at 6am so got to experience and photograph without clumps of people around us. Sanctuary Lodge was an oasis with welcoming, professional staff, lovely rooms and terrific food. Hopefully, we'll be... More

Other than location the hotel is pretty ordinary. Just at doorstep into the Machu Picchu ruins perfect for you to make multiple trips in and out of the ancient site. Not exactly value for money especially when the rooms and facility is ordinary. Dinner for two was about USD125 and they had very good live folk music. Right next to... More

We stayed only one night but it was a pleasant surprise as the hotel is quite low-rise, nestles into its surroundings and doesn't interfere with the grandeur of the Machu Picchu site at all. The staff are well-trained, friendly and helpful. Our dinner in the restaurant was really excellent, one of the best meals on our travels in Sth America.... More

We had the pleasure of staying at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge January 2015 during our visit in Peru. The Belmond is located at the top of the Machu Picchu mountain and is within steps of the gate to enter the park. To stay at the hotel is a splurge but everyone else has to stay at the bottom of the... More

We left Ollantaytambo at 4:40am on the train to Machu Pitchu and on arrival dumped our bags at the Belmont and headed straight up Machu Pitchu Mountain, it took us 3hrs up and down and then we went straight to the Sun Gate. By the time we returned we were exhausted and famished. We could then head to the Belmont... More

This hotel is located at the gates of Machu Picchu - really nothing more needs be said after that. However, it is a Belmond property, and so the service is fabulous, as expected. Physically, it is not beautiful - but the rooms are nice (not fabulous as with other Belmond properties) and the food is great. But travelling to Machu... More

We stayed at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge for one night, but really got two days of value for it. We had two rooms, one for the kids (10 and 14) and one for my wife and I. A Belmond representative met us at the station and took care of our luggage and made sure we had the right tickets. We... More

You can't beat convenience. It is tough trip to get there and to get off the bus and walk into the hotel to rest for a moment is fantastic. To not have to hop a bus back down when you have finished let alone going in and out of the park at your pleasure may not have a monetary value... More

Loved it, loved it, loved it! If you are going to splurge just once on your visit to South America, this is definitely a great contender. Positioned about 20 metres from the entrance to Machu Picchu park, you are never far from a refreshing visit to you room after scrambling up hill and down stair! Pure luxury to be able... More
