This hotel has physical constraints as it is too close to Machu Picchu's entrance and citadel. What lacks in space it makes up with good service and attention to detail. It provides the best opportunity to see the sunrise over MP. Sadly, it was raining that morning for us. Bu the place and the hotel remain magical. Conversation with other... More

Coming off the crowded bus up to the site and wading through the crowds around the entrance to the site, it was as if a hush had come over us as we walked into the Sanctuary Lodge. Our room was pleasant, the lunch cafeteria was pleasant, the staff was pleasant, and it literally is a stone's throw from the entrance... More

People will probably think twice when they see the price but it is worth every penny! We stayed there for 2 nights (in for a penny!) after walking the Inca Trail. What an amazing treat!! The room - amazing. The best beds for this hotel for sure! I was treated to a foot bath and selection of salts for my... More

You stay at this hotel and pay the exorbitant rates for one reason. To double your chances to take the most spectacular photo you will ever take. And for that reason, it is worth every cent. Rooms are comfortabl'ish. Food is quite good. But you will have Machu Picchu almost all to yourself after the day tours go home and... More

I recently told friends staying in the sanctuary lodge was a once in a life time experience .It is...food perfect...location unbeatable..gardens bountiful...staff incredible..atmosphere unique....but it's still got a youth hostel feel in the bedrooms! Have no fear you will spend only the minimal time to sleep as you have to get out to see the greatest site in the world!... More

Expensive and at these prices it's going to be exclusive. Everything is thrown in however. Cocktails, booze, food is all included in the deal we had. A nice touch to be presented with a bill after dinner showing $0 against every item including the wine. The main advantage of course is that one has 2 days next to Machu Pichu without having... More

We spent one night here and one at the Incaterra Pueblo Hotel in Aguas Caliente. We wanted to see the sun rise over Machu Picchu, which was impossible due to the fog. This hotel has excellent service and food, though the rooms are more 3 star than 5 star. It has a wonderful private jacuzzi with views of Wayra Picchu.... More

The hotel is very basic, but extremely expensive. You are paying for the location and it is worth every penny. It is worth the price not to have to take that "wild ride" up and down the mountain more that once. You simply could not ask for a better location. Rooms are small, but definitely served the purpose.

We booked our trip through Belmond and it was a spectacular trip from the time we arrived and left. Every attention to detail was top notch. Not an inexpensive tour but well worth it if you want to have an experience that is just absolutely perfect. At Sanctuary Lodge they offer a day room after checkout which allowed us to... More

I was fairly conflicted about staying here given some of the reviews. However, Macchu Picchu was near the top of my bucket list so I decided to take the risk and booked a room with a terrace for 2 nights. Firstly, despite the prices being above $1000 a night, the hotel looks like a 3 star hotel with tiny bathrooms... More
