The entrance to the Sanctuary is not particularly inviting, the lobby is small and so are the rooms. Ours (a "superior") had a small enclosed patio with two chairs which served no real purpose. It would have been nice to do away with the patio and just expand the room. However, when I learned about the governmental regulations that control... More

The hotel is the perfect place to stay for a trip to Machu Picchu. You are literally steps away from the entrance. The location makes it even more unforgettable - giving you more time to stay and wander through the incredible sight! I would highly recommend the hotel. The service was top notch and the rooms were very comfortable.

We visited Machu Picchu and were very fortunate to stay at Belmond Sanctuary Lodge. Overall our stay was an excellent experience although there was something unusual that disappointed us that was managerial. The general staff of the hotel and the restaurants were first class. The room was quiet clean and comfortable. The attention to detail by staff was obvious and... More

Staying right at the gate of the park was the attraction. The food, service and rooms were a huge benefit. Obviously a terrific location, allowing the earliest access to the park. They also have a convenient day room, allowing you to check out in the morning, but shower and change later in the afternoon.

This is a small luxurious property, attention to every detail. The rooms were very comfortable and the setting was beautiful. The proximity to the ruins is better than anything else you can get! Make sure to use the hot tub which is nesseled in the orchid garden with a view of the ruins! The food was great and the bar... More

My husband, me and two of our best friends stayed here just this past Friday night! It was incredible! The train ride was the start of our tour and left on time. We arrived in the town of Ollantaytambo and immediately boarded a bus up to Machu Picchu. The service at Belmond was impeccable! They greeted us at the bus... More

I stayed here a few months ago, and I wanted to give myself some time to reflect on my stay here before I posted a review. I have spent much time in South America - especially Ecuador and Peru and have an idea of what hotels/service is like in these areas. In my opinion you are paying for the location.... More

Obviously we only came here for Machu Picchu - being able to have a break in the day in a comfy room was brilliant. The Day Room for use after check out also made sure we had a nice hot shower after a long day before getting the train back to Ollantaytambo. The bed and shower and fully towels and... More

My husband and I spent one night at this hotel in September 2015 while we were on a tour of Peru. The rooms in this hotel are cozy. The bed (double or queen size) was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. There were bottles of water in the room. The room had a small porch which was a small room outside with... More

Staying at this hotel eases your comings and goings to Machu Picchu (particularly the early start to the Sun Gate). The gardens were lovely, the service good. We appreciated the use of a Day Room as we waited for our room to be available. The most memorable aspect of our actual time in the hotel was the short Pisco Sour... More
