First time in Peru, chose Barranco backpackers as our first port of call in Lima. Weren't sure at 1st whether to go to Barranco or Miraflores but so glad we decided on Barranco. Our room was great and looked out through large french windows onto the pacific. Twin beds which we pushed together,so no problem and a good enough ensuite.... more

This was more like a traditional youth hostel and we felt momentarily out of place, but the 3 bed room with bathroom (Room 6) had all we required. If there hadn't been any sea-fog we would have had a view to the ocean. Bathroom was a bit dodgy but everything worked ok and there was plenty of hot water. Location... more

I got what I was looking for - a "safe," informative place for the first couple of nights before setting out independently in an unfamiliar country. Positives: Extremely clean. Very friendly and helpful staff who seem to be able to help with just about everything. Invaluable insight from fellow travelers and staff for traveling further afield in Peru. In a... more

This had the best shower, out of the three places we stayed in Peru. The water stayed warm, and had good water pressure. Granted, we had our own private room with our own private bathroom. I have no idea if the shared bathrooms were equally nice. The only bad thing was that our room was directly above the patio where... more

We were just in and out our first night in Peru. I can imagine being just off the lobby would be impossible for a longer stay, but it worked out great for us. The hostess was awesome about our timeline, storing our bags during the day and lining up a taxi for us basically in the middle of the night... more

We never got picked-up from the airport. Finally when we got there the staff was not friendly and we didn't go out at night because it was not very safe more

All flights from the US go right into Lima, and we made the Barranco Backpaper's Inn our "home base" prior to excursions to the south of the country and then into the mountains of Cusco. They were super-friendly and easy to work with. Chris, the owner is Brittish, which made booking our nights there in English very easy and hassle... more
