We stayed here for three nights before going onto the Amazon. It is a great location, literally one block from the main Plaza Mayor. One can see all the main downtown sights from here. The hotel is old fashioned: internal decor, rooms, dining area and reception, say 1960's style? The bathrooms have been brought up to date and the room... More

we have travelled 4 weeks in peru and pisco is one of our favorite drinks! so after this extensive tests and searches, we can tell you, that the best pisco sour you get in the bar of the hotel maury in lima. sure enough the hotel does not look very inviting, but the bar is very stylish in the good... Like so many others, we didn't stay at the hotel, but definitely enjoyed the bar. While we are not Pisco Sour experts, the one they served was wonderful. I know I wouldn't want to have too many of them as the drink definitely packed a punch so this was not a watered down tourist version. At $4US, the drink was... More

The specialty of the house, based on recommendation of many people, is a traditional Peruvian drink called "Pisco Sour" prepared from Peruvian Pisco. Pisco Sour is a drink that has ice, egg yolk, white sugar, bitters and simple syrup. This drink is traditionally drunk on special occasions like birthdays, weddings, promotions, etc. The bar of the Hotel is highly recommended... More

I did not stay at the hotel, but just went to it's bar. The bar is quite nice and is the original Peruvian home of the pisco sour, a rather unique mixed drink that is the national drink. They even have a national day for the pisco sour. Not kidding. The bar pays homage to the pisco sour creator with... More

I haven't stayed at this hotel, but I'd like to recommend the bar of this place. It is one of those places that remind you of the days that are long gone. Heavy wooden table & chairs, and nice wood work on the walls also. They claim to have invented Picso Sour, and their Pisco is indeed delicious, and also... More

We stayed here one night at the end of a Geckos tour. Turned out when we got there that Geckos hadn’t actually booked us a room, but the poor reception girl (who hardly spoke English) made a number of phone calls to find us someone from the Geckos local office who could help us and we were eventually able to... I stayed here as part of a tour group and found the hotel more than adequate for the short stay before exploring the rest of Peru. The rooms are large, you get some street noise. It is just one block away from Plaza de Armas. The breakfast room is enormous, breakfast itself was rather basic. The reception was also huge... More

We only stayed here one night because our tour misguided us to stay here. It seems as if the owners have not invested any money into this hotel in 40 years but claiming cash through its location directly around the corner from the historical centre. Apparently this hotel has the bar tender who invented Pisco sours, but it tasted none... More

Maury Hotel Suituiated in the old city of Lima. This gem is the home of Pisco Sour. The hotel is a tad tied and hasn't been renovated since it was opened or appears that way. The rooms are a good size clean with an unfortunate odor, the walls and curtains are grubby. Hot water takes around 10 minutes to arrive,... More
