I wrote my prior review based on an April 2004 stay. We went back in May 2008 and were very disappointed. The room we got in 2004 was busy, so we were given another room facing the street. The room had a huge window, but no drapes! We had to use one of the beds' comforter to improvise a courtain... more

Yes, it is Miraflores, which is the place to stay in Lima, but there are plenty of other hostal/hotels to stay in. Avoid this place. As mentioned previously, the rooms are dingy, bathrooms are grimy, and I never felt secure. While the price is right ($10 a night), Jose Luis is not a very nice place to stay. The reviews I read in travel books were very deceiving. First and foremost, it's not very clean at all.
