The street was very noisy and the room was not clean, looked like it had not been vaccumed. The price was good and I tend to like old historic hotels, but I didn't like this one. The room also had a musty smell. It looks like it had not been updated in 50 years. more

After staying one night in touristy Miraflores we thought staying in the centre would be a different, more authentic experience. And it really was! We rang the Gran Hotel Bolivar asking for a special offer and ended up paying USD 85 for a junior suite at the fourth floor of this ex-luxury hotel, which, as far as I know, opened... more

Was a fun place to stay - looks liek the old hotel in The Shining. Long corridors and huge ballrooms. Rooms were large and comfortable and location was great. more

We spent three night in the Gran Bolivar Hotel. We asked for a quiet room but the room we were given was not safe. No A/C and anyone could climb through the window. We moved to the 4th floor into a junior suite. Cars honked their horns all night. With no A/C we had to open the window, and we... more

General Comments Tired looking hotel with old world charm from the 1920's. This must have been an amazing place to stay in the early days of the hotel. The location is conveniently close to the pedestrian walk way to the presidential palace. It’s a busy and loud area, it was hard to sleep with all the traffic and beeping horns.... more

I would reccomend this hotel to anyone intending to stay in Lima. After having stayed in many modern 4/5 hotels this was a great experience. Maybe it was a bit noisy at night but after a busy day I slept all night without a problem. Loved the room, Everything was old but charming as is the whole Hotel, which adds... more

I travel worldwide as part of my job staying in 5 star hotels. I would award this 6 stars. It was beautiful. I stayed for 6 nights in Feb 2009. I had a beautiful, clean room. Sure the place is old but this adds to its charm. Yes it's quite noisy but there is so much to do that I... more

interesting experience. i would recommend it based on that. the staff were courteous and the room smelled mildly of must from under-use. but in its hey-day, it must have been spectacular. i liked the old t ford car parked in the lobby. and i liked walking around the hotel (during the day) as there are many ballrooms that seem to... more

My husband and I stayed at the Gran Hotel Bolivar for one night before our trip to Cusco. Everyone in Lima seems to know about this beautiful old hotel. One of my friend's mother told us she remembered the place from her childhood and how magnificent it was. We arrived in the early evening after a long flight. The outside... more
