If you want to experience the Amazon, I think this is a good place to do it. We saw pink river dolphins, grey dolphins, sloths, caiman, four different types of monkeys, tarantulas, tree frogs, all kinds of insects and tons of birds. Our spotter/guide Milton was excellent at finding the various animals we wanted to see. He even caught a... more

Before booking our trip to the Amazon, we did a substantial amount of research in hopes of finding a location that would allow us to experience a once in a lifetime adventure. All the reviews we read about the Amazon directed us to Yarapa River Lodge, a small, eco-tourist destination on a tributary of the Amazon in Peru called the... more

My wife and I met our 25 year-old son in Lima (he's been traveling about SA for 5 months). and then traveled to Iquitos together. From the moment we touched down in Iquitos we had a terrific trip. The Yarapa River Lodge guides, who both grew up in the Amazon were terrific. Their sharp eyes helped us spot more than... more

Wow! What an amazing trip to Peru's rainforest and this lodge is far removed and goes deep! The staff is incredibly nice, knowledgable and caters to your every need. The accomodations are pretty Spartan, but authentic and spacious. The excursions are educational, the food hearty and the overall ambience deliciously relaxing, even for a couple of city slickers. If you... more

We became interested in a trip to the Amazon since my wife and 3 sons are all nature lovers and are interested in environmental preservation. It so happens that we know Dr. Charles Mango whose passion for the Amazon and the people in the area brought the lodge to fruition. Our 6 day, 5 night stay was well worth it.... more

We loved this place. My husband, my 17 y.o son, and I took the trip of our dreams to Peru, and finished it with 4 days in the Amazon jungle, on a tributary of the Amazon, at the Yarapa River Lodge. I read about this unique lodge in a travel book, and was intrigued because of its connection to Cornell... more

Tears swell in my eyes whenever I remember how special and significant our trip to the Amazon was. When preparing a trip such as this, one can only hope that in such a short space of time (as 3-4 days), you will at least gain a tiny window into this incredible and expansive wilderness. This was not our experience... Our... more

For too many years to count, we have been planning a holiday to the Amazon. After searching in vain for a suitable place to stay we stumbled across Yarapa Lodge on the internet. Originally we hadn't been planning to visit the Peruvian Amazon but we are very glad we did.... Our week-long stay at Yarapa lodge can only be described... more

This is an amazing once in a lifetime experience. They really take care of you here. It's well worth the money. The staff are terrific and the activities are unique. One potential concern is the layout of the rooms, as they are openly connected in pairs (partial walls only). Therefore you may end up next to someone where you can... more
