We stayed here twice on our visit to Peru in November 2015. The service is good as is the breakfast buffet. Well located 5 minutes from the main square. On both visits we had a room on the 5th floor with a majority of outside walls. The hotel doesn't turn on the heat until 5 p.m. The rooms are cold... More

After the long journey from the United States to Cusco, Susan and I were delighted to arrive at El Mercado, the first stop on our 40-mile hike to Machu Picchu. The staff was a study in courtesy and the room was artfully decorated. Whenever we needed something (directions, taxis, suggestions, etc.) the staff, consisting of mainly young folks, was invariably... More

I stayed at the El Mercado Tunqui Hotel with my friend for 4 nights from December 29, 2015 to January 2, 2016 and an additional night on the 3rd after an overnight excursion to Machu Picchu. We flew in from Lima and arrived at the airport mid morning where a guide from our tour company met us and took us... More

Great central location, very accomodative staff at the bar|restaurant, best margaritas (both frozen and on the rocks) that we came across in Peru, no charge for bottled water(!). Left safe open for part of the day with decent amount of cash - nothing touched! Recommend the place, totally!

Well located hotel 5 minutes walk from plaza de armas . We stayed a total of 4 nights 2 before and 2 after going to the sacred valley area. on our first stay we were given room # 201 , this room is small and does not offer enough space to comfortably unpack and move around the room , on... More

Very difficult stay. As usual in a place like Peru, oxygen may be required to help breathing due to altitude. This place wants folk to pay for the right to breath freely!!! It was very noisy, the only person on the staf that was friendly was the female assistant manager. The linen was clean and facilities were good. The views... More

4 * alternative to stay in Cusco. 15 minutes' walk from the main square. Rooms small but nicely decorated. There kettle, free WiFi (but it slowly). Patio seating area - view of the end of the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Supermarket around the corner. Absolutely wonderful breakfast buffet. Homemade herbal teas and fusion cocktails. A selection of pastries and fresh fruit. Buffet... More

Our guide advised that this hotel is new. It is housed in an old building which is set around a courtyard so much of it (e.g. The stairs leading to the various floors of rooms) are open to the outside. A lot of thought has gone into the decor which is very trendy and we thought more suited to younger... More

Lovely hotel near Cusco city centre which we found via internet research (plus the help of Alpaca Tours who we used for our Machu Picchu trek). Friendly staff, lovely accommodation (1 tiny annoyance was an aircon unit outside our room). WiFi, great food and service, rooms spotless - we felt safe and very well looked-after. Definitely recommend to other travellers

We stayed at the El Mercado for two days prior to the Inca Trail and immediately following Machu Picchu. They held our luggage while we were on the trail and moved it into our rooms prior to our arrival. The rooms are beautifully decorated and updated. The breakfast was delicious with made to order eggs and smoothies. We spent time... More
