We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. had a big room with a fantastic view and balcony. The Internet worked very well. The garden beautiful, and the staff made us feel at home. Breakfast was fine and the laundry service very cheap. We would like to return to this hotel!!

What a find! Only 2.5 blocks from the plaza de armas, located on a quiet street, sits this gem of an Inn. Upon entering you find yourself in a garden oasis. Rooms look out to the garden and the view of the city below. We stayed 5 nights here in two different rooms. The rooms were well designed with tasteful... More

We traveled in Peru for a month. We really liked El Balcon, the rooms were rustic, and quaint. We booked in on a recommendation of some travellers we met in Iquitos. The room had a stellar balcony to watch the Sun come up. There is a great common area/room, open 24 hsr, with water, hot water for Coca tea, Coffee. The... More

We stumbled upon El Balcon and what a find it was! El Balcon has a rustic charm and the building surrounds a lovely little garden. We stayed in a second floor room which was very comfortable and had awesome views of the city right outside of our door. Also, they provide a full complimentary breakfast including eggs, juice, and fruit... More

This inn had the Peruvian charm of an old farmer's villa with a small courtyard, big wooden doors and log beams. My husband and I stayed in a double room for our five nights in Cusco, before and after our overnight trip to Machu Picchu. It was a little drafty, but the heater kept us really warm at night, and... We stayed several nights at El Balcon over the course of 2 weeks. The people there were extremely helpful, responding to every request. Their English was always adequate and far beyond our poor Spanish. One time we were able to store our rental car inside their one-space parking area. The road up to the hotel is narrow and one-way, coming... More

In September 2013 my husband and I stayed 3 nights at El Balcon before leaving for our 4-day Inka Trail hike, then we returned to El Balcon for 1 more night after our hike. El Balcon kept our luggage locked away at no charge while we were away on the Inka Trail. We found all of the staff to be... More

We stayed at the El Balcon in March of 2012. The people were phenomenal, the rooms were clean, the heat left a bit to be desired but throw another blanket on and save enough to buy one to take home. Our friends stayed in a 'nice' hotel that cost an arm and a leg, was noisy, and just not all... More

We stayed 4 nights in El Balcon in August 2013. The hotel is situated in a quiet street, beautiful views from the balcony. Staff were friendly, attentive and efficient. You feel that you are in Peru and not in a hotel that could be anywhere in the world. We liked the decor and the antique woven cloths hanging on the... More

I stayed at El Balcon a second time and was received wonderfully. The staff are warm and are as kind to each other as they are to you as their quest. The living room is a lovely place to read and or just have tea. The quests that come to El Balcon seem to be as well mannered and well... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Located at Tambo de Montero 222, Cusco, three blocks from the main plaza or Plaza de Armas. The house was constructed on top of Incan agricultural terraces. Since the Inca era, a Tambo was considered a place of rest for travelers and tradesmen similar to that of a hotel or inn. Official documents for the house, El Balcon, date back to the 1630s and because of its location and architecture it was most likely the house of Don Pedro de Montero de Espinosa, Potuguese merchant. ... more   less
