We picked this place even though it was down on the Tripadvisor list, based on some very positive reviews. These reviews must be from friends and family... The good: great location right off the square; lots of character on the surface. The bad was everything else: no HVAC; sheets dirty; shower floods bathroom; the plumbing throughout the hotel is noisy;... More

Stayed here for a total of 6 nights before and after my Machu Picchu trek. Great location, quiet place, and very safe. Within walking distance of any place of interest in Cusco. The two courtyards were fabulous and the rooms well decorated and maintained. Great atmosphere. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Staff were very courteous and friendly. Safety boxes... More

Very friendly place with unforgettable atmosphere. It is very special place, you don't feel like being in the hotel but rather in some historical movie scene. Very well located! Hotel staff was very friendly, trying to help. I recommend!

This was where we stayed our first night in Peru. Wow, we were blown away. This historic old hotel is a pleasure in every way...clean, elegant, and full of character. And the staff is amazingly helpful...certainly the best customer service we had in our entire time in Peru. The rooms are old-world...and that's a good thing. The whole place is... More

Stayed here last week and it was great! Its incredible to sit in the courtyard and enjoy a beer or some tea. Very quiet and conveniently located. The staff was very accommodating and bent over backwards for anything we needed. Great value and highly suggest staying here while in Cuzco. Breakfast is free and absolutely dynamite. The girl who works... More

The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Cusco. The hotel is a well maintained old Spanish Residence, you can breath the past while walking through the building. The personal is very friendly, and was always willing to help me with questions I had. I was amazed how the building looks like the buildings I encounter in my hometown... More

In a city of fabulous old buildings, this hotel, in an old monastery, certainly played its part. Based right in the middle of the old section of town, you walk from the street through reception into a courtyard. There is another courtyard further on, set out with tables and all the rooms are based around these courtyards in the traditional... More

I spent a few days here in 1994 when there was a good staff but unfortunately no water - either hot or cold. Glad to say it has much improved and now has excellent staff and water from both taps. Great central location, wonderful hotel structure, courtyards & carvings. Rooms are basic and you can occasionally hear a pin drop... More

This hotel is charming & full of character. Yes, the floorboards squeak, its super noisy (street traffic as well as guests in other rooms), you have to use an oil heater in the room, and the old doors leave gaps BUT the rooms were spacious, bed was comfortable (extra pillow & blanket are in the cupboard), shower water was hot... Hotel Marqueses is a national icon. Truely a museum masquerading as a hotel so yes, some rooms have squeaky floors and warped doors from 200 years of use, but we found our rooms (3 different rooms in the old courtyard area over a 2 week period) to be a privileged study in artisan craftsmanship from a long past era. Friendly... More
