Stayed here with an OAT tour in October 2008. The location of the hotel is great on the Avenue del Sol. The Plaza de Armas, or main square of Cuzco is only a 4 block walk. The lobby and dinning area of the hotel look spiffy, like a nice but not luxurious medium sized city hotel. There is an elevator,... more

Stayed here as part of a tour group. The room was pleasant and clean. My room looked over the inner coutyard/lobby. This could get noisy at times. However, members of my tour group who faced the street complained about noise too. The hotel was well located, in walking distance to everything. I enjoyed two dinners I had in the restaurant. more

This was my 3rd time to stay at the Don Carlos. It is a 3 star hotel and that is what I experienced. I have stayed twice with a room that overlooks La Aveneda Del Sol and 1 time overlooking an alley. I much prefer to look over the street. The breakfast is pretty good for the price. The staff... more

We stayed here for 3 nights on our OAT tour. When we went to our room it had a double bed, so we went to the desk to see if we could get a room with 2 beds. The desk clerk was very courteous and quickly arranged another room for us. The first room faced in and was noisy. The... more

We stayed here for 3 nights while on an OAT tour. The public areas of the hotel were very nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. Once we got to our room, the atmosphere changed -- we were on the 4th floor -- seemed like an attic room -- very small, but we were lucky to have a room... more

We visiting Peru using Magical Cusco Tours, so they selected this hotel for us. It was okay, not terrible/ not great. The hotel is clean and everything runs well. The downside is the location. It would be nice to have a hotel closer to the Plaza de Armas. This place is within walking distance, but it is not the most... more

Stayed in this hotel twice during our 21 day EXODUS tour of Peru firstly on the 20th June for one night, when after a very long day on the bus we were given a room on the side of the hotel, overlooking an alley. Other people have stated that all rooms face in toward a central courtyard, this is not... more

We were here for 3 nights with OAT. Our room was rather small , overlooking the central courtyard. Adequate facilities, safe & hairdryer, only a double bed for 2 of us, so a bit cramped. Our problem was that the front desk was being torn out and replaced, which involved a lot of hammering and drilling. OK, they have to... more

This hotel might be conveniently centrally placed, but don't expect a good night's sleep. Its poor design, with windows on all floors opening up onto a covered central courtyard (which has stone floors and walls) means that every sound made in the hotel lobby, restaurant, TV room etc etc echo around to all the rooms above. Even if you close... more

We had the pleasure of staying in the Don Carlos in Cusco, in Peru, my first reservation was the large free standing fan in the room. all the rooms look inwards to a central atrium, with no outside air, (What There is of it !!) 11400 feet above sea level...!!! it certainly gets very warm at night, what its like... more
