The beds were clean and comfortable, the bathroom was clean though it did have a sewer gas smell (not just the trash, definitely sewer). The family who runs it was very kind and made me tea when I was sick. There is a kitchen that guests are welcome to use which was great because we love cooking our own food.... More

We spent one night at El Balcon. The staff is lovely, and breakfast was wonderful. The rooms were chilly, but heaters were rolled in and we slept well. Excellent location, a few blocks from the main square of Cusco. We rented two rooms and both were fine.

This hostal has 16 rooms and indeed, some of them are musty moldy. This seems to be the curse of an old building. The rooms are simple and clean, the bathrooms could use an overhaul (cracked tiles, moldy walls, some of the bathrooms' showerheads need to be replaced). We spent a total of three nights recently at the Hotel El Balcon in Cusco. While the staff are super accomodating and really do try, our room left a lot to be desired. The first room (#9) was a musty moldy and tiny cave. Our friends were much luckier and had a more spacious room. The second stay had us... More

When we arrived in the street outside my heart sank but as soon as you're through the doors into the pretty garden court yard it all looks much more homely. We stayed here twice whilst in Peru and the rooms were both quite basic but good and clean. The location is excellent, close to the main Plaza but far enough... More

This was our second hostel in Cusco - we moved from El Tuco to be closer to the centre, and slightly regretted it. It is super cheap, at 40s for a double with shared bathroom / 50s with ensuite, and accordingly basic. The family who own it are absolutely lovely, but the place is a bit run-down. Wifi is free...
