We stayed here several nights before and after our 4D Inca Jungle Trek to Machu Picchu. Kept reserving a 4 bed dorm but were bumped to 6 and 8 bed dorms each time. Beds were comfy, nice fluffy duvets, great! Bread, tea and jam breakfast, eggs for extra. Good kitchen and dining area, nice sofas in main area, good computer... More

Mama Simona is as quirky and cute as the pictures show with lots of vibrant colours throughout. We stayed for a couple of nights before embarking on the Inca Trail and I would say it was value for money. The dorm room was large enough not to be oppressive, however the plastic sheeting under everyone´s bed-sheets was extremely annoying -... More

Good basic hostel with good lobby and WIFI BUT one of the staff members had loud music playing in the lobby ALL day and into the night that could be heard throughout the hostel in all rooms. When asked if she could turn it down she did not. We were a group of 12 and everyone was upset about the... More

Unbeknown to us there was a problem with our double room while we were on the inca trail. When we arrived the guys were worried but had reserved us a four bed dorm to ourselves. I thought this was great as other hostels wouldn't have done the same. And at discount price. Nice quite hostel.

Mama Simona surpassed my expectation as a hostel. To begin with, it is very quiet day and night (certainly you will hear something in the earlier morning when people leaving for Inca Trail, but within reasonable range). very good public facilities, including library, computers, coffee/teas, and various organized events throughout the week. The room is very clean, and very light-weighted... More

This is a really clean, attractive hostel. The rooms are nicely and simply decorated. The beds have down comforters and there is always maté de coca in the common area. My only complaint was that the rooms around the main patio get a little loud, as people start leaving for their hikes and treks as early as 4:45 am. That... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hostel is named after the sacred peak Mama Simona – the only female mountain deity among twelve others surrounding Cusco. Mama Simona Hostel is like a good conversation over a cup of coca tea rather than a wild party; a comfortable and welcoming refuge away from the standard “just-another-hostel” kind of place; simple wooden furniture and lots of room rather than cramped kitschy interiors. Staying with Mama Simona is like being invited into the warmth of a Peruvian home. ... more   less
