I stayed here on the sole fact that it was not a party hostel, and it was away from the hustle and bustle of the party scene in Cusco. Since I was traveling alone and did not have much time, getting rest was much needed for me. Mama Simona is this place if you're looking for just that as it... More

The hostel its self is really clean and seems very organised. The dorm beds are so comfortable but unfortunately showers weren't consistently warm. You cannot get wifi in the room but the common area is nice enough to chill in. Breakfast is basic with bread, jam and butter but you can order something else from a small breakfast menu for... More

The location was not so great, and cuzco at night is kind of creepy walking from plaza de armas to there. Also the privates were different from the photos and the bathrooms where kind of discusting. You can find something better for that price. I mean my couple and I went just to have the night because we were going... More

Mama Simona is a great choice for a quieter and comfortable stay, especially before/after a trek. I enjoyed the free coca tea, the wonderful kitchen staff who served breakfast with fresh juice, free storage during our trek, and clean facilities. Cons: The wifi was not as reliable as it could be, though the computers seemed to always have internet. The... More

After a problem with their booking system we were made to wait for a long time before anyone would sort out our room, and then only when I approached them again. No appology given and just general bad attitude from the staff. I think this was confined to one individual though. Otherwise a good hostel.

We stayed in this hostel in various rooms. They all were warm, quiet and comfortable. They have big lockers to lock your luggage while you go to a Machu Picchu hike. They organised a taxi for airport transfer. There is a comfortable lobby with tea and reading material. All for around 30 soles p.P.

I stayed at three hostels in Cusco. I left the first in search of a hostel with a kitchen and left the second in search of a hostel with a clean kitchen. I found this at Mama Simona. Many hostels in Cusco have a bar/restaurant that is meant as a party scene, but I was not looking for this in... More

We had a four bed room located near the lobby on the main floor. The beds were super comfortable, they all had warm blankets which was good because it was really cold. The hostel was very clean. We had a bathroom in our room - it was OK. The shower pressure was not good, We had hot water, but I... More

We arrived by overnight train and got in at 6am. Our room wasn't ready obviously do they gave us blankets and showed us to some quiet comfy couches to rest. The people in our room left around 8am and they turned the room over straight away so we could get some sleep. Breakfast is basic but you cN order cheap... More

Sometimes, it is hard to find a good hostel in Peru. Safety, clean, good service and quiet. The bed is good, i slept well. This is not party hostel, you may go alone, with friends or family. It is all you may need. The common area has wifi and there are a plenty books to read about your trip. Breakfast... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hostel is named after the sacred peak Mama Simona – the only female mountain deity among twelve others surrounding Cusco. Mama Simona Hostel is like a good conversation over a cup of coca tea rather than a wild party; a comfortable and welcoming refuge away from the standard “just-another-hostel” kind of place; simple wooden furniture and lots of room rather than cramped kitschy interiors. Staying with Mama Simona is like being invited into the warmth of a Peruvian home. ... more   less
