We stayed in 3 hostels in Cuzco over a period of 2 weeks and this was our least favorite, mainly due to the location, the bed, and the somewhat sad atmosphere. We couldn't figure out how this hostel had such high ratings on hostelbookers until Coco approached me to say that he needed a high rating since he was in... More

I stayed at El Tuco Hostel for a few nights in September. It's not really like a hostel in that it doesn't actually have dorm rooms, but was a nice place to go for some rest and relaxation in Cusco. That said, I'd definitely recommend this place more for couples than solo travelers. Plusses: owners were nice, wifi throughout the... More

We've been in Peru for many months now, and El Tuco rates on our top 3 places we've stayed. Here's what we loved: Staff: Carina and Coco are warm and welcoming. They're full of information of what's around. Coco especially loves to hang around in the mornings and practice his English and help you with your Spanish too! They really... More

We had a really good stay in El Tuco. The place is quiet, clean, and generally has everything you would want from a relatively cheap hostel. The breakfast was simple, but perfectly adequate (bread and hot drinks). The service was great, Coco is incredibly friendly and accomodating, he got up at 5am to let us out for trekking and was... We really enjoyed our stay at El Tuco. The staff were always super friendly and helped us to organize trekking. The rooms were large and immaculately clean with comfy beds and nice extras like bedside tables, lamps, big wardrobe etc. There is lots of space in the hostal so you don't feel like you ate living on top of others.... Coco and his wife were wonderful hosts, full of excellent advice. The hostel is a nice building, our room was large and clean and the bathroom was of a good standard for Peru. The water was always hot and the water pressure was good. The bed was clean and comfortable. We found our room very cold and there were no... More

We stayed here for 6nights, it's about a 10min walk to the plaza, there was always hot water and someone at the reception desk willing to help. We would gladly stay again. Coco (the owner) and his family are fantastic hosts, if your lucky enough to be there when his bar opens he makes great pisco sours!!!

El Tuco is the best Hostel we have stayed in during our time in Peru. The house is a beautiful old 1930 s place and has loads of character. Our room was huge with clean bathroom and THE best hot shower in Peru. Coco is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, even getting up at 2 o'clock in... More

The hostel was located around 12 min. from the main plaza. The staff was friendly and helpful with things to do, and it was no problem leaving our luggage there for 3 days or leaving at 5 o' clock in the morning. Breakfast was simple. White bread (as much as you wanted) jam, butter and tea. The kitchen had what... More
