My husband and I have been travelling for 17 months and I can honestly say this hostel was the worst experience we have had during this time. We booked the hostel based on all the great reviews but I really don’t understand how this hostel gets such great ratings. The reviews talk about an amazing host named Coco but we... More

We stayed for 5 nights include the "new year" and everything was perfect. It is a 10 minute walk to Plaza de Armas with lots of facilities close: the bus to Ollantaytambo (sacret valley) is a 1 minute walk, there are farmacy, market. The breakfast is good with eggs, bread, jam, milk, coffe. You can prepare your own coca tea... More

We stayed there for five nights, and the rooms are nice, clean, and the showers were great. The breakfast is basic, but nice (especially if you ask for pancakes!). The location is not really ideal, to walk to the main plaza you have to pass through some dodgy areas, although we never had problems, neither after dark. The owner, Coco,... More

The hostel was a little out of the way, but very cosy and welcoming. We had a nice twin room on the first floor, and a shared shower. The beds were well equipped for the cold nights with two alpaca wool blankets. Our hosts welcomed us and the other guests with Pisco sours in the basement bar which was a... More

The upside: Free WiFi. Cheap. The owner summoned a taxi for us to get to the airport & did his best to provide directions to Sacsayhuaman. Perhaps the greatest positive for this hotel is its proximity to the airport. The downside: It was like being in a concentration camp. The owner (or his wife) had to come to the front... More

Due to our itinerary and not being able to book the same hotel consecutively, we had to stay in 3 different hostels / guest houses in Cusco, so we had a better perspective of accommodation in Cusco by the end. They were all in the same price range (El Tuco was actually slightly more expensive), but El Tuco was the... More

We had a great 4 nights here - 2 nights before the Inca Trail and 2 nights after. Coco is a friendly welcoming host, giving us lots of advice about the trail as well as storing our luggage whilst we were away. Rooms were large, clean and comfortable and ours had an ensuite bathroom with much needed hot shower! We... More

This hostel was so great, me and my friend stayed there for a total of 8 nights and every time we showed up it was like coming home. The service is superb; the hostel owner and his wife are the nicest people and they had phenomenal advice on what tours to take/places to visit etc. It was always clean, always... More

I stayed in El Tuco one night after reading some reviews online. It's a bit pricy if you're on a backpacker's budget, but it's comfortable and I'm sure you'll get a good shower and a good night sleep. Breakfast is simple but good (i.e. the usual in Peru: eggs, campesino bread, coffee, and freshly-squeezed orange juice!). Jorge and his wife... More
