Beautiful courtyard, clean, simple rooms, and amazing staff! The entire staff know your name by day two. They are accomodating to the point of checking on you if you are sick by chance. I had planned on staying for two nights but that has become two weeks. There is the Peruvian cooking experience onsite (daily lunch cooking class) and personal... More

We stayed two nights at Casa de Avila. Staff were excellent and there was always an English language speaker close by if not at the desk. We stayed in a room that was ground floor and right by the breakfast area. It was clean and nice. The room had decent enough wifi and showers were good. The location is very... More

Good communication in advance of our arrival. We arrived late at night on the bus from Nasca and the hotel said it would be no problem. We loved this property, the outside area is great, breakfast really good, had hot water and wifi and just a 5 minute walk to the main square. The bathroom had a bad smell though... More

From the gorgeous gardens to the friendly staff this little family owned hotel is an incredible find. The owner / operator Armando draws on his vast knowledge of the local history, culture and people to offer amazing extras like Spanish language instruction, Peruvian cooking classes, Pisco tastings, and guided tours of the city. Casa de Avila will also arrange excursions... More

This hotel is inexpensive and advertises itself as a hostel for young backpackers and couples but it is a bit basic to have children staying I suspect. It doubles a language school and it also offers cookery classes. It looks like it has been a cloistered school in the past as it is made up of basic rooms built around... More

Dear Guest I will not say "negative comments". Its just what you saw. And you are right. Only way to have a balance in order to modernize the place is to leave the hostel route and raise prices as a hotel. To the moment we are trying to have a nice place limited to its age (build 1927!) . Doors... More

Stayed three nights at Casa de Avila in August 2014. Not a luxury hotel, but good value for money. Decent sized rooms, ok breakfast (can order eggs for an extra fee), very good service and located pretty close to Plaza de Armas. Would definitely stay there again.

We stayed here for 3 nights and found it perfect for our needs, it was mid range In price and very cleansing free wifi. It was a short walk away from the centre so it was quiet allowing for a good rest. The beds were comfortable and the shower had plentiful hot water. The only thing they could change would... More

Our bus arrived into Arequipa at 0600 in the morning. Both myself and my travel partner were very very sick. When we arrived at the hotel without a reservation, they had an available room and cleaned it for us. We could hardly stand we were so ill. They allowed us to check in early and passed on the word to... More

I loved staying at this hotel! The room was very nice and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful! We loved spending time in the courtyard and we did the cooking lessons that they offered at the hotel which was very fun! I would highly recommend Casa de Avila!
