Our recent trip to Peru was one full of "adventures". During our stay in Arequipa we had the pleasure of staying at Casa de Avila. Unfortunately for us this was during the recent protests which caused road closures and riots in the city. The hotel staff were absolutely wonderful from day 1 to when we left. We were greeted with... More

Casa de Avila is a big place centred around a lovely sun filled garden where you can enjoy your breakfast. Great breakfast Highly recommend this place. While u are there u can do one of their cooking courses which was fabulous & professional. Or take Spanish classes. The rooms were nice, quiet and bathroom a good size. The hot water... More

We really loved this place and stayed for three nights. The room was basic, but with the most comfortable bed, very clean and most importantly so quiet. The bathroom was very clean and we always had a hot water. Our favorite part was breakfast. It is serve in a beautiful garden full of flowers and humming birds. The breakfast is really... More

This was a great place to stay, the people were amazing! The food/breakfast (especially pancakes) was great. There is a nice open court yard to spend the mornings and the 50 year old turtle who likes to play with tourists feet was such a nice addition.

This is probably one of my favourite hotels in Peru. The large garden area is equipped with chairs and it's quiet inside the hotel area. Location is still central, just a few blocks away from the main plaza.

This was a great experience in Arequipa! The most friendly staff, clean and fresh rooms (they cleaned everyday and gave fresh towels). Hot shower with good water pressure and cozy beds. Good locatioin- only about a 10 min walk to main square. Also, the hotel offers Spanish classes and cooking classes daily that teach you how to cook Peruvian dishes!... More

Beautiful courtyard, clean, simple rooms, and amazing staff! The entire staff know your name by day two. They are accomodating to the point of checking on you if you are sick by chance. I had planned on staying for two nights but that has become two weeks. There is the Peruvian cooking experience onsite (daily lunch cooking class) and personal... More

We stayed two nights at Casa de Avila. Staff were excellent and there was always an English language speaker close by if not at the desk. We stayed in a room that was ground floor and right by the breakfast area. It was clean and nice. The room had decent enough wifi and showers were good. The location is very... More

Good communication in advance of our arrival. We arrived late at night on the bus from Nasca and the hotel said it would be no problem. We loved this property, the outside area is great, breakfast really good, had hot water and wifi and just a 5 minute walk to the main square. The bathroom had a bad smell though... More

From the gorgeous gardens to the friendly staff this little family owned hotel is an incredible find. The owner / operator Armando draws on his vast knowledge of the local history, culture and people to offer amazing extras like Spanish language instruction, Peruvian cooking classes, Pisco tastings, and guided tours of the city. Casa de Avila will also arrange excursions... More
