My husband and I stayed at the Mansion Alcazar for 2 nights in Feb. 2009. We opted to get the airport shuttle from the Cuenca airport. (We should not have- cabs were about $2, and we thought we were just being charged $5, not $5 per person.) In any case, check-in was quick, the staff were wonderful, and we ended... more

Once in your life you should spend a week in this beautiful hotel. The level of service and comfort is beyond compare. The lovely owner took the time to share with us the creativity that went into the conversion of this colonial home into a spectacular hotel. It felt as though we were visiting the home of a colonial Spanish... more

Mansion Alcazar really took my breath way, the place is beaituful, romantic and one of a kind. Isabel Moreno was very friendly, and she is an expert in Cuenca. We traveled as a family and we felt very well received. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Cuenca. Lovelly hotel. Maria Luisa Carter more

A lovely old-world hotel in a superbly central location in a beautiful town. The food is excellent - worth going here to eat even if you're not a guest. The muzak irritated, but was turned off when I complained and what more can you ask?! All the staff were fantastic. My wife wasn't well and the kitchen made her a... more

This is a marvelous place to stay in Cuenca. The building and garden are very beautiful and comfortable, and it's only a few blocks walking distance to the center of the city. The hotel is sumptuously decorated with Latin American antiques and crafts. The staff were very helpful on all accounts. A nice respite from the somewhat tiring street life.... more

Cuenca is a nice city and a must-see when in Ecuador. The Mansion Alcazar exudes a pleasant old-world charm with lots of attention to detail. We stayed there for two nights on a trip through Ecuador and the Galapagos. The rooms are nicely furnished. We stayed in a room on the ground floor with the door leading to the atrium.... more

We stayed at the Mansion Alcazar for 3 nights and from the time we stepped out of the taxi we were treated very well. Our room was on the ground floor opposite the restaurant. It was a large room with a garden view but was quite dark due to the heavy furnishings. The bathroom was in need of a refurb... more

The Mansion Alcazar was more than I expected. The minute you walk through the front door the friendly staff greets you and makes you feel that you're in your own home. We stayed in the Sirena Suite which we found spacious yet intimate. Coincidentally the fabric they used on the wingback chair in the room was the same that I... more

This is one of the most exquisite hotels I've seen, especially for the price. We began our two-week tour of Ecuador in the lovely and manageable city of Cuenca, and our choice of hotel had a larger than normal impact on the quality of the visit. The entire staff was friendly and helpful without reservation. We received excellent recommendations for... more
