Due the requeriments of my job I was living on Cuenca Ecuador for close one year from June 2013 to May to 2014. All the staff are wonderfull. This is a beautiful colonial mansion with an interior courtyard decorated with fresh flowers. It's in an excellent location within easy walking distance of the main squares, sights and a good selection of restaurants. However, the calibre of the staff varies and some speak little English. Also, the buffet breakfast is limited and the quality of the bread, cheese, cold... More

We spent two nights at this hotel, one of which was our Anniversary. All the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our room was beautiful, the decor was very tasteful, and it overlooked the hotel garden. It was a delight to watch the numerous humming birds that were there. We ate in pergola part of the restaurant, which has a... More

This beautiful hotel located in the old centre of Cuenca has everything we appreciatie in a hotel. The service was excellent, the food at the restaurant in accordance with the hotel level and the friendliness of the staff above what you may expect even at this level. The only minor point was the noise coming through the adjoining suite (... More

What I Liked Most: The hotel itself is an old colonial house with a central courtyard and a well-kept garden; room size What I Liked Least: The loud piano music in the late afternoon, which permeates the entire hotel; bar closes early and there is no mini-bar in the rooms. Stayed here for a few days to relax after a... More

We spent 2 nights at the Mansion Alcazar as part of a trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos. We were upgraded to the deluxe suite, enjoying views of the beautiful gardens and a ringside view of nesting hummingbirds in the palm tree outside our window. Little touches such as the chocolates, brooches on the pillow at night as well as... More

You feel that you are guests in a family home - albeit a mansion - at Alcazar. The staff are helpful, the decor in keeping with the age of the mansion, details everywhere, antiques, paintings, and the humming birds in the garden. We stayed in a garden room suite on the ground floor. The room was small and there were some... More

Mansion Alcazar is a remodeled beautiful old house in a lush garden. Most rooms enter from the central atrium except for the Garden suites in a separate building at the rear of the property. We stayed in Garden Suite #303, an upstairs room of generous size with a small sitting area. It included a large bathroom with a walk-in shower.... More

In a fabulous colonial building, the Alcazar is so beautiful. The rooms in the main building are stylish but slightly small, but the modern rooms through the garden are larger and stunning with lovely design details and antiques (though we needed to ask for extra heaters in August). The garden is gorgeous and a great place to watch humming birds.... More
