On my recent trip to Ecuador, while in Salinas I became quite ill with a parasite and hepatitis A. The weather on the coast was hot, humid and oppressive, so they moved me to a small boutique hotel in Cuenca Ecuador, where I convalesced. David and Andreas, the two brothers who run the hotel with their father, were nothing short... More

Stayed 3 nights and was very pleased. Hotel seems to be a bit outdated but was very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Biggest drawback is that there is no elevator. Most times this wouldn't be a big deal for me since there are only 3 floors but on this occasion I was suffering from altitude sickness.

We arrived at 9:30 PM from Quito tired and very hungry so happy to learn that the restaurant is open! I forget what I ate but do remember a delicious and perfectly executed Pisco Sour. We had booked for 10 days and were given an enormous, very attractive suite facing the street. We found that to be too noisy for... More

This place is a huge house converted in a hotel. The results are great to the eyes, but unfortunetely, walls are thin as paper. We could hear everything that was going on in the other rooms...and I mean EVERYTHING! Also, even if our room was on the third floor, we could hear the front desk phone ringing loudly at every... After an exhausting trip from Guayaquil to Cuenca, my driver suggested that I stay at "Hotel Cuenca". I was greeted with such warmth and hospitality by the lovely receptionist Belen. She immediately took care of everything I needed, plus more! The fact that she spoke fluent English made communication a breeze. My Spanish is none existent at this time. I've... More

I really, really wanted to love this well located hotel in Cuenca. David, the owner was a wonderful host and welcomed us warmly. However, we had to check out early due to really excessive noise. We were in a room that bordered the open stairway to the lobby level. First problem is that there was no outside window, so the... More

This hotel has some of the quietest rooms I have ever stayed in. I stayed in an apartment type of room that had all interior windows so we didn't get any of the noise from the street. The Hotel is located in Old Town just a few blocks from Parque Calderon. The staff was polite and friendly and most spoke... More

I spent three nights here in July. The rooms are attractive, the shared spaces are beautiful, the included breakfast is quite good. The excellent staff was always ready to be helpful. However, other guests seemed to have no sense of night time politeness. They walk through the halls 11, 12 pm 1 am talking and laughing loudly. Sometimes right outside... More

Cuenca hotel, is in a great location, just a couple of blocks from the main plaza. Rooms are very clean and the people at the restaurant and the reception desk were very nice. I traveled in a lot of place around the world so prepare. Ecuador is not sophisticated, if you do not speak Spanish have a book in your back pocket Spanish/English 90% speak Spanish not English. City 400 years old think about that. Bring toilet paper/walking shoes/umbrella/warm sweater/folding hat/be flexible hide purse and camera & money. Money on US excharge bring... More
