This is a family run hotel near the centre. The building is more than a hundred years old but has been updated and is full of character. A special mention for the staff who went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. The breakfasts were very good. We enjoyed our stay here and wished we could have stayed... More

We have stayed there many times and know the family that owns and operates. It is a "must see" establishment. Very clean and elegant. Easily the best value in town. The family has gone to great pains to keep the rooms clean and the breakfasts are to die for. Everyone who works at the hotel are very friendly and most... More

It is hard to describe how nice our experience at Casa San Rafael was. The colonial hotel is beautiful, the room we had was very comfortable, and the hospitality was wonderful. The proprietress, Maria Eugenia, as well as her family and staff, treated my wife and I as though we were family. During our stay some of the other guests... More

Wonderful place. Very convenient. Breakfast was wonderful and included each morning. Wifi was pretty good. The staff was very hospitable. We had a double bed room with a balcony facing the city. It's safe with the locked entrance. Great areas outside the rooms to relax. Only a couple blocks from the center of town.

We stayed here for three nights in room 205. Very tiny, but had a balcony door that opened, which was great for the night air. Lots of traffic on the street below but no problem for us since we travel with Mack's earplugs. In our five weeks traveling all over Ecuador, this place had the best, most reliable hot water... I had the privilege of spending 3 nights in the Casa San Rafael, a converted colonial home located just 3 blocks from the main square of Cuenca. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. They were always available, and greeted me cheerfully each time I entered the hotel. My room (206) was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. It... More

My husband and I stayed here whilst travelling around Ecuador. The hotel has such a charm about it that makes you feel comfortable and looked after straight away. The staff are great, breakfast is good, rooms are very clean with a good shower. Perfect location in the midst of shops and a few mins walk to the main square.
