The staff and owners of this small, well located, spotless hotel deserve an excellent review. We spent several days in Cuenca on a family outing, and comig back every evening after exploring the surroundings was like coming back home. Every piece of advise provided by the staff was right on spot: A good place for typical ecuadorian food? The best... More

We spent a week in Cuenca during April 2014, six nights at Casa San Rafael. The accommodations and service were outstanding. The included breakfast was superb. The location was just four blocks from Parquet Calderon. We would highly recommend this hotel and plan to return again next year.

I stayed at Casa San Rafael for two weeks and I can only have good comments for them. This was my first time in Cuenca and staying at San Rafael was like being at home. The place, a renovated a hundred and ten years old house, is astonishing. The service is excellent. They will do everything on their hands to... More

A remarkable place to stay in Cuenca's historic district. Service oriented staff takes care of any request promptly in a polite and gracious way. A satisfying breakfast in the interior courtyard is included. Rooms are appointed with antiques and are clean and fresh. Windows open for fresh air. We were pleased and totally satisfied with our stay.

Casa San Rafael is a hidden gem and exceeded our expectations! The hotel is located in the lovely old colonial section of Cuenca. We arrived at 8:00 a.m. on February 28th, 2014. Our room was already prepared so we were able to check in and, in addition, we were served a complimentary breakfast! The family who manage the hotel are... More

What we will remember most is the family who own the hotel, making us feel like we too were part of their family. We agree with a previous review--they can't do enough. We won't go into details because we don't want to obligate them, but they made us feel special. The hotel itself is a lovingly restored century old hacienda.... More

The staff at this charming hotel is exceptional. They cannot do enough to please their guests and make them feel welcome and comfortable as you would in your own home. The room I stayed in was beautiful and so clean. The sheets were soft and the pillows with memory foam. The shower was strong and always hot. The breakfast was... More

A few blocks from the center of historical center of Cuenca. Very nice deco and wonderful staff. Good wifi signal and good breakfast served. Rooms are very clean and good maid service. Staff assisted us in arranging private transportation to Guayaquil.

We went in Cuenca for a weekend in family, with two little kids. The hotel is located in the heart of the old town, 3 mn walking from the Calderon place. It's a very nice hotel, and the owners are very nice and welcoming. They helped us a lot to plan our trip and they gave us all the facilities... More

This hotel is a wonderful place to stay! Right from the moment we walked in the door and was greeted by the young lady at the front desk and the owner, Rafael. Our one night stay has turned into three. We weren't going to visit Cuenca, but had some time to kill so decided to come and see what was... More
