This hotel has warm and caring staff. We were there one night, yet they allowed us to leave our baggage and then hang around after our tour while we waited for our night flight. The ever present coffee (the best I've had in Ecuador) and hot tea were a treat, breakfast was ample and delicious. The rooms were on the... More

we stayed at this wonderful small, family-owned hotel in Cuenca in October. We picked the perfect place to roam the streets of Cuenca's historic district. We stayed in room 201 and found it to be spacious, well appointed and very comfortable for two women travelers. The balcony overlooked the street. I didn't notice the noise but my friend did use... We stayed at this charming hotel for 8 nights a couple of weeks ago while vacationing in Cuenca. My husband and I stayed in the junior suite on the third floor. Our room overlooked the rooftops of the near-by buildings. The room was spotlessly clean and the bathroom was very modern with plenty of hot water! Breakfast was included in... More

Everything about this place was perfect. It occupies an old building along one of Cuenca's main drags. Close to the main square and all other tourist sites. The lobby and courtyard area are stunning, filled with flowers and rustic touches that make you feel like you're in a mountain lodge high up in the Andes. The rooms were big and... More

We were on the second floor, the room was nice sized for 2, a little noisy as it was on the street. Great Breakfast, yoghurt, eggs, bread, fruit juice, tea or coffee. also 24/7 tea, coffee was nice. Staff was stupendous, owner was very caring and helpful, location was GREAT, right downtown, safe. We'd go back again, the price was right,... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and found the hotel very enjoyable. It is small and and has a lot of charm. Though the property is old, the bathrooms are very up to date, with modern fixtures and a nice shower set up that I wish I had in my own home. Wi Fi worked fine for me. There is... More

The staff was wonderful at this hotel, the value was good and the included breakfast was fine. The wi-fi was a bit spotty, but generally fine. The only downside is that it is on a corner in the historical district and there was a fair amount of street noise (houses in Cuenca generally don't have air conditioning or heating because... More

We stayed in Casa San Rafael for 4 nights, of which the first in room 207, small, well-equipped but without windows. Luckily we could move to room 207 which has windows, and a balcony. We had a very nice and comfy stay, the hotel is breathtakingly beautiful and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The location is absolutelybperfect. Everything... More

I think this is a good hotel, but I'm a little surprised it ranked so high among all the hotels in Cuenca. The room we had, 302, was quite small for two adults and two children. You may want to try to get one of the rooms on the second floor, because they have windows to the street. This room... More

I was amazed at the service and the coziness of the place. Everybody is so friendly and the owner in seconds becomes like a very old friend. He was so friendly and we would stay talking hours. The place takes you back 4 centuries to the colonial era. I highly recommend it!
