We stayed at the San Juan Hotel for two nights in mid-June. It is conveniently located near the Old Town area of Cuenca with lots of restaurants within only a few minutes’ walk. The San Juan is on a busy street that was surprisingly quiet at night. The hotel has three floors in an older but yet very modern building... More

Our large comfortable room faced a lovely garden and featured a big bathroom with jacuzzi tub. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the local was perfect for exploring the lovely old city of Cuenca. Our best meal in Ecuador was at the Villa Rosa only a block away.

The service was excellent. We had a room at the back overlooking the garden since I have trouble negotiating stairs (no elevator). The breakfast was good although not elaborate. The location is perfect for touring old town. Downside-the room did smell a little musty and the bedside and desk lamps did not work but with some imaginative lightbulb switching it... More

OK where to start from... I have been to Hilton , holiday inn , taj, etc etc but this is the best for me.. This is just perfect ... The hotel is beautifully made and developed in old Spanish colony with beautiful interiors and a wonderful room. The only thing you won't find here is a swimming pool but I... More

Hotel San Juan is pretty much in the center of Cuenca and a good place from which to walk and explore. Cathedral of the Emaculate Conception is probably the most famous and popular of nearby sights. Since we were on a tour and had a local guide we learned quite a bit about the building, its' towers and history. You'll... More

All I will ever remember about the San Juan is how cold it was.. Actually it was an interesting building with a lot of very old pictures and antique furniture. It is a lovely hotel but so cold one could never enjoy it.We asked for a heater for our room and they sent one. But it made no real impression... More

We were allocated a room at the rear, which overlooked the garden, rooftops and a vacant plot. It was a very large room with two king size beds, it had decent furniture, but no safe. We mentioned this at Reception and one was delivered to our room, with no instructions. The bathroom had a bath with spa (which was very... More

We stayed here for 4 nights and from here you can explore Cuenca the best. Its in the middle of the centre, and not far from many things to visit. The hotel has very nice rooms, breakfast is very good and the staff is super friendly!

We stayed in the Presidential Suite. This was not a suite, nor was it Presidential. The sound insulation is almost non existant, and we could hear the slightest conversations from the foyer, door bells at midnight as well as breakfast preparations at 6 pm. We checked out two days into our one week booking. My wife, left behind two garments.... More

We stayed in the San Juan for two nights in December . Very welcoming, spotlessly clean , and with all the facilities a first class should have. Generous public areas mean the hotel never feels crowded. Close to the main square and to all the city centre restaurants. Breakfasts have a wide choice . The room we were given was... More
