We stumbled across this hotel on the street, and thought we had a decent bargain, until on day 3 the host informs us that the rate they had given us was not for the room, but per person. Our room just doubled in price, despite the fact that we specifically asked for the price of a room. The guy even... More

I moved to the Posada del Rey after several days in a hostel that had once been a good deal but had become much more expensive. For 25 days I negotiated a price of $16 per day. Don't expect such a good price for a short stay, however. And I did pay up front for 25 days; I thought this... More

We stay at La Posada Del Rey last October. We enjoy htis Hotel and it's cafeteria ran by a French chef and his family. The room was well mainatained and very clean. We rented a corner room with two small balconies and a vista at both Benigno Malo and Presidente Cordova street. The town center square is only a block... More

I have looked around for a place to stay long-term when I come back to live in Cuenca. The room offered to me is truly magnificent. The bathroom is ultra-modern. The room is huge. The closet space is super-spacious and the room is beautiful. As for the potential noise you can't expect to have the best location and a perfectly... More

I had trouble finding this hotel. The address in Lonely Planet is wrong, but the city map icon is correct. The price was $40/night, higher than I thought. Room was nice and offered a balcony. The street noise was horrendous though. I don't mind the sound of traffic, but this was absurd. The breakfast was really good and Peter (Pedro)... More

Posada del Rey is a traditional Spanish colonial house with metre thick walls and a central internal courtyard, all nicely refurbished. It is wonderfully located within 5 minutes of the cathedral, main square, markets and museums. The two ladies generally on reception were polite, friendly and helpful, despite the language barrier. The rooms were adequate to large and well furnished.... More
