This hotel is located in the city center and it is inexpensive. However you get what you pay for. The bathroom are nasty and the room is outdated. Do your research before booking this hotel. The city of Cuenca is a jewel and the locals are very friendly. I'll be back but I will stay at a better hotel.

We liked this hotels a lot, that we decided to stay for 16 days total. They have eggs for breakfast, are close to the main square, and do daily cleaning. However, we stored money and passports in the safe in the reception, only to later find out that about 80 dollars had been stolen. It took three days to sort... More

we stayed at Cuenca for two nights, for our last night we asked and see 4 other hotels and we decided to stay because the location and price-quality reference, and the most important clean rooms!!. The breakfast is pretty basic, the hot water take a while to show up but beside this, it was a good decision.

we go there two days ago and still there. We loved The location, the breakfast the quiet ROom. No noise from The street. The wAshroom is adequate. The only point is would suggest to them is that The mattress need to be replace and bigger Tv would be nice. Other then that Nothing to complaint.

Most rooms are grouped around a beautiful (covered) courtyard. Here there is less noise from outside street than the rooms facing the street. Rooms are large with simple fittings. Bathroom is adequate. Breakfast is basic: bread, coffee, juice, fried eggs. No restaurant. Location is perfect, just near the main square. Taxi from bus station is 3$.

I'm in Cuenca studying Spanish for 8-10 weeks and rented a hotel-apartment from La Orquidea. I'm very fortunate to have secured an apartment here. The location is awesome! Right off the main square of the New Cathedral and Abdon Calderon Park. Restaurants, cafes, galleries, shops, museums, landmarks, and Spanish schools are all within walking distance. The studio apartments have a... More

Our family had a very nice stay at Hostal Orquidea. The location is excellent, and the Hostal staff were helpful, reliable, and very nice. Our room was clean and well-maintained, and we found the old-style building charming. For a family stay, this is an excellent value in a great, central location.

A friend of mine and me spent here three days and we really felt at home in La Orquidea! The rooms are spacious and I really loved the ecuadorian breakfast in the hostels' breakfast room. The hostel is very well located in the city centre of Cuenca. We had numerous shopping opportunities and it's not far away from the famous... More

The entry into Hostal La Orquidea is impressive. Beautiful staircase, lovely wooden floors. The rooms are a bit disappointing. We could choose out of 5... we took the first two rooms. When we first saw them we asked to see some others, but they were worse. The rooms had no outbound windows, not unusual for Hostals in Equador. However the... More

At our arrival they told us our room was still occupied and that they could keep our bags secured in an empty room until we return from lunch. When we returned, our bags were already placed at our designated room only to realize many items had disappeared. ($150 value in new clothes and cosmetics). Staff didn't do more than questioning...
