La casa naranja was a great place to stay and exactly what we needed being in Cuenca. the Senora looked after us, serving breakfast at the time we wanted. She has shown us the lovely fashion of alpaca wool that she designs. The room was simple but stylish and every room has a different style. The house is situated in... More

We started out on the wrong foot because Expedia had not sent our reservation so only by luck was the room with the private bath available. I say by luck or maybe not because although the building is beautiful and decorated tastefully it is also very chilly so I think that some heaters would come in handy. The breakfast could... More

My husband and I spent three nights here in March. We found the rooms to be spacious and very clean, with great beds and pillows, and lovely linen. The owner was lovely, suggesting restaurants and places to see. She got up super early to make us breakfast. All in all we found the hotel to be quite nice, but as... More

The building is very old but also very lovely and beautiful. Breakfast was ok and rooms were clean and quiet but cold. The location is good. Service or tips were hard to get because the owner was there only during the breakfast. We found the owner a little strange and she also tried To change the conditions of our booking... More

For the price, you can do much better in Cuenca. The owner speaks almost no English and is not very friendly. Rooms are tiny and there is no sound insulation so you will hear everything around you. There is a moldy smell and the ceiling leaks when it rains. Although the location is good, the neighborhood gets sketchy at night... More

We booked 3 rooms for 3 nights, as we were travelling with two other couples. There is no doubt the building is lovely, authentic colonial, and minimal interior design doesn't detract. But we found it cold and less than welcoming to come back to at night - lamps not working, and no comfortable common space to sit in. Hot water... More

"A Casa Naranja" exceeds my expectations each time I visit Cuenca, Ecuador. Besides a discrete metal sign outside, Naranja is invisible from the street. This makes for quite the pleasant surprise when you enter the hostel to find beautiful high ceilings, tasteful decorations, and utterly fabulous staff. Each room in the Naranja is unique and fun. If you are traveling... More

The home is absolutely beautiful but large and empty. We were the only guests our entire stay. The seneora who owns the home lives on the top floor and will call down to you from the balcony if she needs to say something. An example would be our room was supposed to come with breakfast and she yelled down one... More

Casa Naranja fit our needs perfectly. The location is in easy walking distance to most of our destinations, the breakfast was terrific (they accommodated our no-bread needs and made scrambles eggs for us), and our room was very comfy and large. The owner's elderly father was visiting from Peru. We wanted to make hot chocolate one night but there was... More

This adorable little hostal is not at ALL what you would expect from outside appearances! The traditional family home turned quirky hostel is one of the most charming places I have ever had the pleasure to stay. The dueña is just as sweet as can be, and it is abundantly clear that she and her daughter put a ton of... More
