We stayed here twice in February, once for 4 nights and then for 1. The service and attention we received from the staff was exceptional, with travel info, and with extra-early-morning breakfasts (when we had unusually early connections to make.) During our 2 stays, we stayed in 2 different rooms, 1 with a river view & 1 without; both rooms... More

We were delighted with our room No. 10 at Casa del Barranco, which overlooked the river and the city. We had a balcony, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was very pretty with embossed towels. Breakfast is served on a lower level that overlooks the river. The staff were helpful, and the hotel is located close to many sites and... More

The family owned and operated Hostal Casa del Barranco was a great stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was quaint and quiet with a wonderful view from the back veranda. Located on Calle Larga, you are right in the middle of "el Centro" with everything in walking distance. The staff helped me with all my requests... More

We found this place far overpriced for what you get. Only two rooms have (limited) views to the outside. All others are very dark. We found our room kind of shabby and it smelled musty. The terrace and cafeteria with river views are nice but the 'cafeteria' was unattended whenever we have been around. Take care with the breakfast, we... More

This is a lovely place, located right in the hot spot of Calle Larga in the old city. The breakfast room and rooms in the back have a terrific view over the Rio Tomebamba. It can be a bit loud on the weekends, but that's the price you pay for being in the thick of things, with EVERYTHING in a... More

I stayed here for a few weeks when I first moved to Cuenca, and waiting for my house to close escrow. What is different about CDB over all the others of the same caliber? Location: It's on a popular street and only a few blocks to the center of everything. No climbing stairs. The rooms are located in the back... More

a nice place with charme. The owners are very friendly. nextdoor is one of the few travel agencies in town, the location of the hostel is very good. I paid like 30 USD for a single person room with WIFI inside the room and a TV, breakfast was included but simple

Really wish we could have spent much more time in Cuenca. This is a family run hostal and the quality of the service is exceptional. The young woman running the front desk was very patient in my attempts at communicating with her in my limited Spanish. Our room was located in the back of the building so we had a... More

Who uses "groovy" anymore, apparently I do, in the headline of this review. Nice rooms. Actually, very nice rooms. The shower and bathroom was borderline impressive. The capitalist in me sprung an extra $8 for a room with a view of the rio, the river on the south side of the city. The balcony is large and this paid off... More

This was our home during our recent visit to Cuenca. The location is great as it is within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Sitting on the balcony overlooking the river is very relaxing. Breakfast was very good and the staff spoke enough English that with our limited Spanish, we could still communicate. The one drawback was our beds.... More
