This hotel is perfect if you are staying in the Old Town in Quito. Its a 5 minute walk from all the main attractions in the Old Town. Its really clean and well kept. OK the staff are not the friendliest in town but if you can see through that, its a great place to stay. We payed $8.50 for... more

My husband and I stayed at this hostel for days at the start of our RTW travels. We started with a room with a shared bathroom on the 1st night due to availability. The next night we moved to a room with a private bath. When our friends joined us a few days later, we moved up to a dorm... more

I found the most of the staff excellent. They were friendly, helpful, and many spoke english. On the first morning, I was 20 minutes late for breakfast. The woman made me breakfast, anyway. The location was good - close to the Old Town but not too far from the New Town. The room was basic and windowless but I had... more

We stayed at the Chicago hostel for 5 days in march 2009. We were lucky enough to get room #8 which had a balcony and amazing view of the city. Our room was very clean, had a private bathroom that was also really clean. We were impressed with the included breakfast of croissant, fruit, eggs, coffee/tea all of which was... more

First off, make sure you bring ear plugs -- the 24/7 NOISE was unrelenting! Secondly, the guy who was at the front desk was somewhat rude to me. I almost passed out because of altitude sickness while checking in, and he did not even show a bit of compassion with what I was experiencing. Good thing, the rest of the... more

The hostel is located in San Blas, few minutes walk into old town and close to the metrobuses to get you into new town. We had looked at a few hostels in old town and this was by far the cheapest one we could find. For $17 pn you can get a private double (inc bathroom) which is of a... more

If you can get a room away from the street, you will experience much less noise. The water was hot in the evenings when we took showers. The roof top deck is nice, but most people hung out in the lobby. Free internet access was a nice bonus. We found this location ideal to walk to the Mariscal or the... more

Chicago Hostel is great for many reasons. Friendly english speaking staff, lovely large double rooms wtih private bathrooms, consistently hot water, great breakfast...I could go on and on. Location is excellent. Safe area at night time (compared with the new town). We wanted to extend our stay on our first time there but they couldn-{t fit us in. The guy... more

I been in Hostel Chicago for over two months now. It is situated in the old town(it is safer than the new town), which is declared by the UN as a world heritage. Every morning, I take my breakfast in the terrace surrounded by the Andes, the beautiful Cathedral, and the amazing colonial buildings around the hostel. The ambiance of... more
