Great place to stop for lunch after a fun trip at the equator. This restaurant overlooks the crater. Beautiful views and great food. The clouds would roll in and out making for a beautiful view during lunch.

The pictures of the room views on this site do not do the hotel justice. The views are amazing and every morning has a spectacular view into the crater. The afternoon fog comes rolling in like clockwork every day giving guests a respite from the equatorial sun. Every morning, you receive a complimentary breakfast of a fruit plate, eggs, tea... More

El Crater exceeded our expectations in every way. This hotel offers upscale accommodations with comfortable spacious rooms, fantastic mountaintop views, and a terrific restaurant. A real class place at the top of the world. Highly recommend!

Great views, huge nicely appointed rooms, amazing food, clean and super quiet. Very attentive staff. Perfect location to 'Centre of the Earth' . Too long a drive to Cotachachi leather market and too far a drive to Quito early morning flight.

A gorgeous, well appointed hotel. If you're going from Quito to Mindo or touring Mitad del Mundo, I'd highly recommend you stay here for a night of gorgeous views and pampering. The beds are so comfortable stacked high with warm blankets. Each room as a sitting room which is perfect for cuddling up with a book and bottle of wine.... More

The El Crater was the perfect place to end our trip to Ecuador on a relaxing note. The hotel is small and informal, but the staff are incredibly accommodating - everything we needed was provided easily. We joked that we had entered the "Land of 'no problemo'. The photos on the website are just as the property appears - the... More

Hotel El Crater is about 1 hr drive from Quito airport. It is not a big hotel (12 suites in a three story building, as far as I can tell), but is nicely situated on the rim of the caldera, next to the Pululahua Nature Reserve. View over the rim is fantastic. A small restaurant in the hotel complex serves... More

My wife and I went to Ecaudor Quito before our week cruise to the Galapagos Islands, it was 2005 and as we landed a Coupe had taken place as we had a hotel in Quito Hilton the tour company took us to El Crater to avoid the disruption and possible troubles. The hotel had only just opened and we stayed... More

This Hotel is built on the rim of a caldera. The views are incredible. Our room was very large and comfortable and reasonably priced. The staff (especially Diego) is extremely friendly. You do need a car though. You will want to visit the crater itself as well as the several museums in the area. If you had to depend on... More

Not helpful. The staff seemed to think of me as a bother, not a guest. I arrived very late because my flight was delayed, and the man who picked me up at the airport was very kind, but the man who greeted me at the hotel just wanted me in and didn't seem to have time to answer my questions--is...
