After a few rough choices in accommodation, Vieja Cuba felt like a reward for good behavior. I arrived on the evening of Christmas Day, which meant it was already dark, already cold, and not a lot of places were open for food or anything else. This gorgeous converted house felt inviting, cosy, and safe. My tiny room made me feel... More

We were three people in the room... two adults and a teenager and did just fine with the size of the room. It had three twin beds, TV with cable, bottled water, small but adequate bathroom. (We disagree with previous posts that the beds were hard... we thought they were fine.) The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly and assisted... More

Vieja Cuba is a comfortable and reasonably priced hotel near the Mariscal area of Quito. Rooms are comfortable though small. The breakfast was good, and the breakfast staff a real delight. Nearby is a large supermarket and a selection of good restaurants. At night it is recommended to take a short taxi ride to the center of the Mariscal rather... More

Close to airport, bars, restaurants & supermarket. Clean rooms, comfy beds - did not notice if they were hard? Breakfast cooked fresh, just the usual cereal, fruit, juice & eggs, served quickly & with a friendly smile. Free wi plus desk top available to guests. A very pleasant place to stay in Quito. More

I stayed at the Cuba for 3 nights and really had no complaints. The security guard speaks no English, but grabbed my luggage and made me feel at home. Breakfast is simple but is the best part of the stay. Very friendly staff. BTW I love the bed, but the pillows are flat. More

Just returned from our visit to Quito and the Galapagos. Spent 3 nights in this lovely little hotel which was nicely decorated, had lovely staff and a delicious breakfast. We even had dinner in the restaurant the last night we were in Quito and everything was cooked to order and delicious. The only downside were the VERY hard beds and... More

Staff speak English. Room and bathroom are clean. Bed is too hard, not a place if you have backproblems. Breakfast is good. Dinner is ok, but take long time before you get the food. 24 hours service was very good. Felt like a safe place to stay at in Quito. In general, prices in Ecuador were higher than we expected. More

I thought the hotel was very cute (it really is!) but there were a few things that put me off on the first night (I only stayed 2 nights). I stayed in Room 14 and had major issues with the shower - after 2 mins, the water pressure dropped and dropped until there was no water within 5 minutes. I... More

Over a period of 6 weeks travelling in Ecuador, we returned to the Hotel Vieja Cuba five times in between travelling to other parts of Ecuador. Each time we returned we were greeted with hugs and excitement and made to feel so welcome. Millie and all the team treated us like long lost family and patiently listened as we recounted... More

I stayed 3 different nights here as my "jumping off" point in Quito. Pleasant appearance both outside and the rooms, good showers w/ hot water, close to airport (but not too close). I thought the room floors were quite dirty, though. There is technically a restaurant, but very few items on menu are actually available, and no wine (which is... More
