I had a great experience at Cafecita. The staff was incredibly nice and my room was perfect. I stayed in the "Harry potter room" and it was just the right size. The cafe has great food as well. Love the platanos dish. It's lively at night sometimes but that's what the plaza Foch is all about! Great atmosphere and vibes.... More

Let's start with the good things: their restaurant / breakfast place. We stayed in three different hostels in Quito - yes, it's hard to find a good one - and this one had by far the nicest breakfast place which also serves as a restaurant at evenings. And it was cheap (in Quito terms). The bad things: our shower didn't... More

The hostel is conveniently located for the bars and restaurants of Mariscol...albeit the hostel has a bar and restaurant attached that is popular with locals and gringos alike. The hostel is an old house thus lots of character but means noisy floor boards throughout. Beds are a good size in the dorms. Shared bathrooms often lacked hot water and needed... More

This hostal is brilliantly located in the beating heart of Quito, the mariscal, close to the central place and both central buslines. It offers very spacious and cheap rooms and dorms with hot showers in a lovely house with 24h reception and wifi. There is also a restaurant and bar downstairs with life music on weekends. The most memorable part... More

Very nice place to stay. Safe neighborhood. Staff very friendly and lots of info about Quito and other parts of Ecuador. I would stay here again !!! Food was very good in the cafe. Might not fit a backpackers budget, but many cheap places to eat in the area. The hot water was fine when I stayed there.

The place is safe, location is good, room was kept clean, vibe is amazing and the shower is not always hot.... All normal for your average place to stay. A few important things make this place far beyond your average hostel. The home made desserts are to die for!! But much more important was the service I received when I... More

I have stayed at El Cafecito each time I have been to Quito - over 5 times and it has never disappointed. The lovely man that owns the business has an extensive knowledge of South America- particularly Ecudor and Columbia which he is more than happy to impart. The hostel itself is tasteful, clean and offers tasty meals in the... More

Rooms are ok. But this place has the worst showers in Ecuador. Got a choice betweeen very cold and freezing. And if you are desesperate enough, wait 5 minutes and you might get 1 min or 2 worth of warmish water. Every single toilet in the place also leaks. Its a shame they don't fix that. Way to go green.... More

I stayed here, on recommendation by a backpacker friend. She swore up and down that it's a beautiful place, and I have to agree! The dorms are pretty standard, as far as hostels go. Nothing overly special, but there are thick warm blankets which are a must in cool Quito nights, and only $8. The showers are sometimes hot, and... More

I stayed in a few hostels, most on the higher end, in Quito during October of 2013. Most were disappointing, seriously unsafe or overpriced. I liked El Cafecito much more in contrast. Accommodations are not fancy, WiFi is average, and you won't get a 10 minute hot shower. But this place is a magnet for interesting travelers, researchers and creative... More
