my husband and i stayed for one night on our way from quito to riobamba and absolutely loved it. we were given one of the honeymoon suites on the 3rd floor and had as much fun walking around this fabulous hacienda as we did on the nariz del diablo train ride or at the otovalo market. we went horseback riding... more

We stayed four nights at La Cienega. For the first night, we were given a very small room in an annex building. In the morning we were told that we would be given a better room (we had not complained). The new room was in the main building, three times as large as the previous one. Also the bathroom was... more

As a first-timer to Ecuador and flying in alone, I was naturally nervous when I requested La Cienega to pick me up at the airport. As soon as I got through customs, there my driver was...holding up my name! I was thrilled! The 2 hour drive out of Quito passed quickly as my driver indulged me with everything I wanted... more

My boyfriend and I stayed one night at Hacienda La Cienega in August 2007. His parents are from Quito, and apparently La Cienega is well known to the locals with virtually all middle- to upper-class Quitenos making a visit at some point. So his mom booked us the room. Although his grandmother warned us that she had heard the hacienda... more

Having read reviews on this site, we were looking forward to our 2 night stay at La Cienega. When we first arrived, the hacienda did not disappoint, beautiful setting with view of Cotopaxi and wonderful historical building. However, we found our room was fairly basic, and extremely cold. The oil-filled radiator we were provided with had no hope of heating... more

This is a truly amazing place to stay. We enjoyed the atmosphere (live Andean music with dinner), the gardens, the old buildings, but mostly the sounds of this hotel. You really feel like you are in a different era. The rooms are spacious and clean. The service is excellent, the staff were always friendly and helpful. The only slightly negative... more

If you want to step back into a time, feel like royalty, and pamper yourself in a hacienda that is truly amazing in architecture and atmosphere, then go to the 300 year old La Cienega. This beautiful hacienda is unforgettable and surprisingly affordable. We paid $50. for a room just off the main house by stopping in without a booking.... more

We referred to many different sources when booking a Hacienda in Ecuador. We stayed two nights at La Cienega in the Humbolt Suite. This room is the entire third floor of the main building. Marco who spoke english, gave us the grand tour. We had a pisco sour in the intimate bar saloon. Dinner that night by the fire. You... more

We had the chance to stay at La Cienaga during our recent trip to Cotopaxi, Ecuador. This is an Hacienda converted to hotel. We had read reviews elsewhere about how impressive the entrance was but that rooms were pretty commonplace. We were very impressed with the place. Because of a scheduling issue our double room was not available but the... more
