Masphi Lodge is a unique opportunity to visit the Ecuadorian cloud forest in style. It sits in the middle of a private nature reserve surrounded by thick vegetation. If you love the forest, hikes on hilly terrain, the sound of nature, being away from civilisation and like guided nature walks by knowledgable biologists than this is your place. But be... More

Mashpi is a beautiful building architecturally, with each room looking out to the misty forest. The naturalist guides are knowledgeable, with eyes like hawks. Rubber boots are provided and necessary for many of the tracks and ponchos if it is raining. The staff makes the stay very pleasant, with excellent service, good meals, rooms well cared for. We loved the... More

This was my first time to Ecuador, and I thought I had been blown-away by Galapagos Islands, but then I got to Mashpi Lodge - what an amazing experience! I love luxury, I love adventure, I love exploring, I love animals and nature - and I got it all at Mashpi! From the excellent food, to the phenomenal naturalists and... More

We stayed as part of a tour. What a place! The lodge is in the middle of this reserve, a cloud forest. Many different kinds of birds, plants, and butterflies. Twice a day naturalists gave tours. There were two guides for 8 guests. They would find things I could not. Great birds. They have a sky bike. a horizontal zip... More

We were amazed to find such luxury in the middle of the rain forest. Rooms were lovely, food was excellent and the wildlife, and birds in particular, were spectacular. Guides were also excellent. Good to see local people involved.

Following early reviewers' comments, we organised a private transfer to the lodge from Quito (with Metropolitan Touring) and it took 4.5 hours with two fairly short stops. But the journey is well worth it. This is an amazing place and the guiding is excellent. We had a local guide and an English-speaking guide and both were fantastic - very knowledgeable,... More

We stayed for the two nights with our family and truly enjoyed our time there. The lodges is beautiful, a crystal box int he middle of the rain forest. All rooms have floor to ceiling windows with amazing views of the jungle; the service is spectacular from the moment you arrive and are greeted with refreshing towels and local fruit... More

We had high expectations, based on our travel agent's recommendations and reviews and we were not disappointed. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. First class accommodation, food, guides and wildlife. Every small detail is taken care of; quite an undertaking when you consider where the Lodge is situated. This is a birders paradise, in luxurious surroundings. The... More

Mashpi Lodge is a wonderful retreat in the cloud forest. We had fabulous guides just for the 4 of us, Oscar and Anderson who were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the whole region. The wildlife was amazing especially the hummingbirds and toucans - it was well worth getting up at 6.30am to see the birds. The four of us were... More

Mashpi is 3.5 hours away from Quito the capital of Ecuador. You are driven from an altitude of 2900 mts to 800 mts. On the way you experience the change of flora and fauna from pine trees to orchids. The main entrance is a gate that reminds you of Jurassic Park but upon entering you find yourself pampered by a... More
