We have been at La Rabida for 5 nights; this little and very comfortable hotel has a typical european style and the owners are friendly and lovely. The rooms are clean and the staff is always helpful. In La Rabida, you can breathe the familiar atmosphere in front of the fireplace, drinking wine and talking with the guests, staff and... more

We have been at La Rabida for a total of 7 nights, coming back and forth from other destinations in Ecuador, last August. Our stay was really very enjoyable, because every time we felt as we were at home. The lobby is really cozy, with a nice fireplace, the rooms are not very large, but clean and with everything you... more

I have just come back fom a stay in Quito, Ecuador, which I enjoyed very much, particularly my stay at La Rabida, where the atmosphere is warm and welcoming and I felt really at home. The staff are awesome and I really enjoyed sitting in front of the lovely fireplace, sipping a glass of wine and chatting with them and... more

I have stayed at La Rabida for a total of 7 nights last month during my trip to Ecuador. I was looking for a small, quiet and clean place to stay and I got all that and even more at La Rabida! First of all, I must say that the staff at La Rabida were all very friendly and very... more

La Rabida combines many of the best attributes of a bed & breakfast with those of a large full service hotel. Rooms: Varying size, on the first of two stays our room was a little cramped but clean and functional, on the second stay we had a larger room with private patio off the entrance lobby. Service: Everyone in the... more

The comments book in the hotel indicated a high level of satisfaction and a couple that we met on a cruise to the Galapagos were very pleased with the accommodation when they stayed there. Unfortunately our experience was very much different. We all had rooms that opened to an outside courtyard and the night that we stayed there, we were... more

Management response from
angloitalotraveller, Owner

We are extremely sorry that Mr Strack had such a disappointing stay with us. We took over the management of La Rabida at the end of February and are gradually making improvements to all our rooms and facilities. This winter has been particularly cold and wet with temperatures well below average and, unfortunately, central heating is not considered a necessity...

I stayed 5 nights (3 nights then 1 then 1) at this hotel in connection with a birding tour of Ecuador. The hotel is cozy, clean, and conveniently located near the "language school ghetto" (my phrase) of Quito which had dozens of internet cafes (60 cents/hour), pharmacies and other useful items. It is off the main street, and has a... more

I recently returned from a long vacation to Ecuador that began with a a short stay at the Hostal La Rabida. I chose the hotel for it's relative bargain price (under $65 with tax) to some of the other larger chains (Marriott, Swissotel, Hilton, etc.) and small, boutique atmosphere. We stayed in a room upstairs that was simple and clean.... more

I stayed at La Rabida for 4 nights before going to the Galapagos. When I contacted them to book, they offered an airport pickup service for $20. That's really outrageous since a taxi costs only $5 (or $6 at night). When I e-mailed my comments back to them, they said that the cost was justified because a person has to... more

This hotel is a gem! If you are planning a trip to Quito, no matter what your budget, this is a great place to stay. I spent two weeks there in March. During one of the weekends, I actually left to go over to the Marriott, thinking I would treat myself to some luxury. I couldn't wait to get back... more
