stayed here for the day after leaving the amazon jungle before heading home on international flight. great place in terms of location. very close to old part of quito....able to take taxi to old part for $3usd. place was clean and quiet. looks like it might have been an old mansion with really high ceilings that was converted to little... I staed here before & after an Intrepid tour. I stayed in 3 rooms in the main building. Room 6, was a good sized double, with a comfy arm chair and tv facing over the street. Room 8 was an ok sized twin, with big windows. Shower pressure wasn't too bad in both. Both rooms had really poor wifi signal.... More

We were in Quito for one night and we stayed at La Cartuja. We had a reservation for a room with three beds. Our reservation showed a large room with three windows and three beds. The room they gave us was small, had one double bed, one single, and one window, definitely smaller that the one we reserved. It was... More

I stayed here both in December 2014 for five days and at the end of January for one night. the entire staff was helpful and friendly. I was traveling alone and felt truly looked out for. The beds were quite comfortable, the shower hot, the towels fluffy. The building itself is quite pretty (a former embassy), with a neat courtyard... More

3 out of 4 taxi drivers could not find the address. The one given is too general and due to one way streets... they mostly miss it. Call the hotel in advance... ask for Wilson's phone 0992579279 - he speaks excellent English and Spanish. He's your go to guy! Very pleasant stay... asked for early breakfast and it was done.... The building and room was nice with cute garden, but room was not really clean. You can expect 12%+10%+1 USD extra charge at paying as tax plus service fee. It was pretty expensive, we managed to find similar hotel for half price closer to the center. The location is good if you want to be close to the zona rosa,... More

This is a simple but comfortable hotel, ideally located in a safe, walkable neighborhood. The national museum is a few blocks away, and you can walk to many restaurants in la Mariscal, or take a quick cab or bus to the Centro Historico. The rooms on the courtyard are quiet, and the garden just outside your door is a pleasant... More

This is a pleasant, small hotel on a perfect location in a quit neighbourhood and only a couple of dollars ride from the old town and the entertainment area. Service is friendly, internet is good. We bad room6 in the old building, which is a nice spacious room, but we found it a little bit chilly, because of te high... More

We had a great time here at this quaint and beautiful property. It was in a lovely area of Quito within walking distance or a short taxi drive to the Old Town and the Museum. The staff people were lovely to us--very kind and helpful with great suggestions of things to do and see. We had a late flight out,... More

I lead summer trips for high school students interested in learning about the culture of South American countries and improving their Spanish skills. Needless to say, traveling with a group can be challenging, and traveling with teenagers can add other layers of complexity to touring a foreign country. After staying at La Cartuja for a number of days during summer... More
