We stayed here for 3 nights on our trip down the Ecuadorian coastline. This well kept Hostal is located in the small fishing village of Solango. The Hostal was very clean and well maintained. The air conditioning made it very pleasant during the hot days. A lovely deck faced the Ocean. A hammock was on the deck which was great for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular sunsets. The room was large as was the bathroom area. While in Solango, we visited the local museum- Salmar, the Hostal owner, phoned Julia the curator who opens the museum on request. This museum was well appointed and had a very knowledgeable guide- he did not speak English. If one wants to swim but not in the ocean, a lovely pool is located on the grounds of the Hostal.

Clean and cheap, however it feels more like a cheap hotel than like a hostel, as it has no outdoor and only a small indoor living room for meeting other travellers. The rooms are equipped with kitchens and the breakfast being served is VERY GOOD! The staff is very friendly (however they should improve their English a bit, as not every traveller is fluent in Spanish). Located quite central, only a few minutes walk away from the old town. WiFi not yet available in the rooms, but in the central area, as well as two computers.

Beautiful 18th century building with internal atrium letting loads of natural light in. Family owned and run - the owners were absolutely fantastic and provided a very comfy airport transfer. We booked a double room with private bathroom. Room was very spacious, comfortable and clean with windows to the internal atrium which was lovely. Breakfast was perfect, fresh fruit salad, bread and eggs cooked to order. We highly recommend this hostel and had a great stay. Location excellent.

We spent three nights at Hostal Ecuador and had a very special time. Our room was beautiful - spacious, well furnished, extremely clean, well maintained and incredible value for money. The main space is a delightful historic building with an internal courtyard with lots of light. Our hosts - Carlos and Vicky were wonderful. They welcomed us warmly and provided us with local information, maps etc. Throughout our stay they took great care of us. Our rooms were cleaned each day, beds made, towels changed etc. The rooms have lovely hot water! Wifi is available and reliable. Breakfast was delicious - eggs, bread, fresh juice, coffee, fruit salad. Tea and coffee are available without charge throughout the day/night. The location is fantastic - centrally located in the historic centre, a short walk from the main plaza, numerous churches and historic buildings, supermarkets, atm etc. Also very well linked to transport connections.

Great location located in the heart of Quito. The building has so much character and our room was huge! The showers were hot and the wifi worked well. Breakfast was included and was absolutely delicious (coffee, fruit, eggs, bread with butter and jam).

I was pleasantly surprised, I picked this place due to it being close to the la Ronda area (old town closes down at night and La Ronda has shops, food and entertainment) and I'm glad I did. Treated extremely well by the staff and breakfast was great. Clean and the beds were good, ample hot water with big fluffy towels.

Superbly located, good value and very helpful staff. Street noise was a downside. It was an excellent base to explore Quito. The rooms are spacious and have the basics. We had a large living area with two bedrooms upstairs.

Such a warm welcome by the owners Carlos and his wife Vicky who went out of their way to accommodate me (even when i had food posioning from an outside restaurant) they took care of me and kept asking me how i was. A rare thing to come across and i have travelled to most parts of the world and feel equipped to say that. The bed was comfortable...hot water worked well...strong wifi...excellent location in the historical center (3 min walk to the main plaza and la cathedral). Felt very safe. 1 min walk to the bustling Laronda area. Decent breakfast. .free coffee and tea throughout the day and night. Highly recommended. Excellent view from my balcony

This hostel isn't very fancy, but it provides the basics. Breakfast is good, the beds are ok, and the showers are clean (although the water temperature can be finicky at times). The location is convenient as it is located right across La Ronda and near Independent Square, which gave us easy access to a variety of food options and things to see. With regards to safety, we were told never to turn right of the hostel because that's where things get sketchy but there is normally someone monitoring the front door/gate and cameras. It's nothing fancy, but I would stay there again.
