An 150-year old colonial building recently converted to a Hotel, this is right in the centre of old Quito, adjacent to the Plaza de San Francisco. You approach it through a large steel gate leading to an alley, & walk up some flights of wooden staircases (no wheelchair access). The Reception is on the second floor, so not easy to... More

This was our first hotel at the beginning of our Ecuador trip. We liked it a lot, the room was spacious, huge beds. The walls are pretty thin so it can be noisy at nights, but that did not really bother us. The breakfast was nice, staff super friendly. We can definitely recommend this place.

Cons: Climbing the stairs to get to the rooms. The restaurant shutting down haphazardly. Lack of instructions for hot and cold water, causing boiling water to hit the body in the shower. No air conditioning since the temperature is pretty even all year. Pros: The location was perfect, right by San Francisco square and access to historical sites. The room... More

My favorite Quito plaza is San Francisco and this unique former house/convent is located a few steps away. There are some fantastically decorated common spaces on all levels! Breakfast is generous and the staff is helpful. An interesting and comfortable place!

We chose this little hotel primarily beacuse of it's great, central location. But once we got there, and I started climbing the stairs to our room, I was immediately captivated by the hotel's ambiance, the artwork, colours and the textures. The skylight, or cupola, made me feel like a character in a fairy tale. There are common areas on every... More

I love this hotel. Located in the historic section, it is steps away from Plaza San Francisco and a short walk to the Plaza Grande, La Ronda, Casa del Alabado. Shopping, restaurants, and the hop-on-off bus are all nearby. Formerly a convent, the house is 200+ years old. As such, it is not a modern hotel packed with amenities. There... More

I loved staying at this hotel. The location, right off the San Francisco Plaza can't be beat. It's a little hard to find because it's set back from the street. The outside doesn't look that imposing but once you get in, you find something new and beautiful every time you look. The hotel is decorated with a great mix of... More

This wonderful and quiet hotel is right off the splendid Plaza de San Francisco in Quito's beautiful colonial district. It is well run by the extremely helpful and friendly Sonia and the courtly Mario, whose grandparents bought the old convent and converted it into their home and who, in turn, has turned it into the charming and home-like hotel that... This hotel is located in the heart of the Cento Historico District. It is a great location in that you can visit any area of the city by hop-on-hop bus. The area is the oldest part of Quito and is crowded during the day and early evening hours. Not much activity after 8:30p.m. except in one or two locations that... More
