The devil is always in the details, and that's the case in this hotel. It's beautiful, with a truly caring staff. The details, though, colored our stay. Housekeeping didn't check to see that shower gel and shampoo were left, and we had to call for more (in mid shower). The air conditioning didn't ever work, despite three trips from the... More

Quito is a most beautiful but the old town has a poignant atmosphere too and from that perspective, this hotel, centrally located, has an over-the-top feeling. If that does not distract you, this is a gorgeous and very neatly decorated, fashionable hotel, with perfect service to match. Deservedly the best and the price easily worth it. The only downside being... More

Casa Gangotena is a beautiful small hotel in the Old City part of Quito, overlooking the lovely Plaza San Francisco. The hotel's public spaces are open and airy and the rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed. From the moment of our arrival (from the Quito Airport, 45 minutes away) we felt truly pampered. At check in we were offered a... More

We stayed here two nights at the end of our trip on the way back from Gapalagos. It's not terribly far from the airport, about 40mins taxi ride (~$30USD). We had a corner room which had 2 windows that overlooked the square with the church. For those who want quieter mornings, there are rooms that overlook the garden but we... More

Set on a beautiful square in the centre of Quito for sure the best hotel in town, and part of the Mr and Mrs Smith collection should give you confidence. Unexpected luxury in this busy city with a fine dinning restaurant and roof terrace with great views

We spent our last Equatorian night in this hotel and we really loved it.Our room on the top floor facing the inner courtyard was spacious, bright and very quiet;it was very comfortable and the sleeping quality was excellent. The buffet breakfast is huge served in a beautiful lounge where you can take time to enjoy it.The location of the hotel is... Casa Gangotena is located right in the historic district overlooking the square in front of San Francisco Monastery. Many churches, cathedrals, government buildings (including the President's residence) are within a short walk. The lobby, entry and courtyard are beautifully decorated. The rooms are all decorated character consistent with the residence. The beds are exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast buffet is excellent. A... More

Actually, it is my fault. We arrived late last night and leave for the Galapagos early tomorrow. My disappointment is that we only got to spend one day in Quito. A city rich with history, culture, culinary delights and wonderful people. Our tour guide (who met us at the beautiful new Quito Airport at 10 pm and will deliver us... More

Casa Gangotena was to be our 'home' on 3 separate occasions during our stay in Ecuador. During our trip we visited Napo Wildlife Centre in the Amazon, Galapagos Islands and Mashpi Lodge in the Cloud Forest, using Casa Gangotena as an overnight stay in between each other location. The only downside for us was the distance from the airport which... More

We travel a lot, and we are always seeking a place to stay that "feels" like where we are in the world. Casa Gangotena is a splendidly refurbished historical building in Quito, and they have done an excellent job of meeting the standards of a luxury hotel and still retaining the beauty and charm of the original building. We really... More
