Stayed there a couple of years ago and had a luke warm feeling about the gringo husband Patrick. Now he is prison in the states, Nora is running the hotel. Night and day difference! Nora is most kind and helpfull with none of the "hustle" of Patrick.

My husband and I, as well as my sister, arrived in Quito the evening of March 19, 2014 for a 14 day stay. We were picked up at the airport and transported to the Bonanza and in spite of arriving quite late, we were greeted warmly by Nora and right away we felt at home. The following day, however, my... Patrick Minga, age 50 was arrested in Huntsville,AL on March 7,2014 for child sex trafficking by the department of homeland security. An agent read a posting in Craigslist posted by Mr Minga last November offering sex with Ecuadorian and Colombian children. The agent followed up his investigation with several phone calls confirming Mr Minga's illegal activities. Minga has been transported... More

My husband and I recently stayed with Nora and Patrick at Bonanza. They are a warm and loving family with a delightful son, Nicholas. Freddie prepared a delicious breakfast and lunch for us and Nora's sister, Marcella, always fixed a wonderful dinner. We met some great people and felt like we were visiting family Our room was very nice and... More

I can honestly say my experience was an extremely pleasant one. Patrick, Nora and their entire family welcomed me with open arms and really made me feel at home. I traveled to Ecuador to seek medical treatment, because doctors in the U.S. decided nothing else could be done to assist me. I am an African American female and I was... More

The warnings you read about Patrick and Nora are true. The so called hotel is only a house located outside of Quito with a few detached rooms. The rooms do not look like the posted photos. Advertisements ask $750 a month for room and board. However, after I confirmed this price verbally 3 times before agreeing to stay at this... More

We found Hotel Bonanza on our third trip to Ecuador, an old style hacienda nestled in a beautiful mountain valley. The Mingas were the most accommodating hoteliers we’ve ever met. Patrick, the American owner, is an amazing individual, people seem to love him or not. We did. He and his wife Nora maintain a familiar homey atmosphere whichever way you... More

What Can I say ? My stay with Patrick and Nora was more than I ever expected. The hospitality was as if I was a family member. They were helpful in every aspect. The rooms were comfortable and had a homey feeling.; Not the generic cold hotel room. They have a wonderful chef for breakfast and lunch named Freddie and... More

The worst stay ever! We arrived at this so called"Hotel" to find rooms with an horrible smell, couldn 't sleep it was so bad. Dog poops everywhere in the backyard. Rides to and from the airport are a fortune, supposed to be free, you have to pay your rooms in cash. We were treated with all names, threatened, and scrimmed... More

The 'hotel' is nothing like it's purported to be. WAY outside town! There's mold/mildew on the walls of rooms, dog poop all over the yard, the food is erratic and not what most visitors would expect. Prices for tours or visits to things in Quito area are ridiculous, better to hire a taxi! It's really just a house that's had... More
