Didn't stay here but visited the roof bar, what an amazing view. Cheap drinks and a great location to view the city from above. Walking through the hostel the room and communal areas looked clean and we'll maintained.

Secret Garden Cotopaxi is an Oasis of beauty and good vibes in the middle between Pasochoa and the beautiful Cotopaxi volcano. We absolutely loooved the place, since you get there, the staff receive you with a cup of mulled wine and a smile on the face! The place itself is very cozy and heartwarming, and so is the staff- volunteers... More

Had a great time here and partook in the shortened Cotopaxi hike as well as the Pasochoa hike. Both had great views from where we reached and it was great to see the glacier. Staff and volunteers against were very good again like in Quito however this does bust your budget as it is hard to do much without spending... More

I stayed here for 2 nights of my 2-week vacation to Ecuador, and the main reason for staying here was to arrange a climb for Cotopaxi. Before coming here, I stayed at Secret Garden Quito, which apparently is a sister hostel to this one, and there is a subsidized door-to-door transportation from Secret Garden Quito for only $5 every Tuesday.... Quite far away from Quito (like 3 hrs by car) this resort is build in the Cotopaxi valley just in front of the volcano. The resort is composed by a main building with common services (restaurant, dining room, meeting room, kitchen) and several small buildings where are located the rooms. A unique Jacuzzi room is available in a glass house... More

The location is spectacular. Views of Cotopaxi are breathtaking but it seemed a bit expensive and unorganized. The staff is mostly volunteer and they come and go so I empathize with them for not having a system down however, coming from the hospitality center of the world, the issues they have are easily remedied if upper management would just put... This is my first review, also my first time leaving the states. My stay at secret garden cotopaxi was awesome. I wasn't expecting to have these nice little intimate meals with the other travelers and have all the food served to us. More food than you can eat and plenty of activities. I did the waterfall walk and went horseback... More

I don't normally write reviews, but I found myself ranting and raving about this place to absolutely everyone I met during my 3 week vacation around Ecuador. My main goal or desire for my trip was to climb some volcanoes, specifically Cotopaxi. I didn't really have a plan and the whole concept of guides and acclimatization made me pretty nervous.... More

We stayed in a private cabin at Secret Garden Cotopaxi for 3 nights and left with very mixed feelings. The location is undeniably spectacular, (if you get a clear, fog-free day, which we didn't really), near the Cotopaxi National Park, with views of 3 volcanoes, but also quite remote. We had to take a bus to Machachi, about an hour... More

Beautiful lodge, lovely cabanas, nice area, easy to meet other travellers but... there were some significant downfalls which mean I would not recommend this place. Totally contrary to the reviews we read before we went. - food was budget backpacker at best, and we were starving the entire time. we had to walk 1.5 hours to another hostel to buy... More

Katherine and Tarquin, the owners/creators of The Secret Garden Quito, have moved to the countryside where they have been building their dream home and hostel. It's spectacular mountain scenery, it's a beautiful traditional lodge made of mud bricks and thatched roof, it's an eco-friendly self sufficiency project, it's great homegrown food, it's an adventure center and it's a relaxation center. ... more   less
