We stayed for 2 nights in July and I can't speak highly enough about Casa San Marcos itself and the staff and owner who made us feel so welcome in their home. This restored mansion is oozing with character and original antiques having been carefully and lovingly restored by the current owner. We were in Quito as part of a... More

We were expecting to arrive at Casa San Marcos just before midnight after a full travel day from Canada. We had communicated this to the hotel well before we left and they had arranged for a taxi driver to pick us up from the airport. While we were in transit (from Canada), we received an email that they had overbooked... More

We were two families with youngish children and my father spending two nights in Quito before moving on to Mindo and then Galapagos. If one can afford it, Casa San Marcos was absolutely wonderful in every way. Since we only had one full day in Quito, we wanted somewhere comfortable to stay in the old town to appreciate the architecture... More

Stayed 2 nights at Casa San Marcos. After a long ride from the airport our driver had a hard time finding this hotel. It is situated on a narrow but busy street in the historic center of Quito. Once inside you felt like you were in another era. The house I believe was built in 1802 and it is quite... More

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are in a centrical and nice street, sometime the taxi drivers make it a little difficult to find the place, as they belong to the airport area, so they do not know Quito as well as our drivers. That is the reason why we do offer a transfer service so that... More

Casa San Marcos is a beautifully restored colonial mansion in the historic center of Quito. I loved the suite of formal public rooms with very good colonial art and furniture (the place also functions as an antique store). The guest rooms are scattered throughout the house, all quite different and some a bit quirky. I had a large, high ceilinged... More

Stayed 5 days at this hotel, between May 19- 24, 2014. It is located within the historic centre of Quito and within walking distance of the most interesting sites. We stayed in the Altillo (attic) or in the room located under the roof rafters. If you are over 5'4", watch your head, as you are going to bump your head... More

We arrived in Quito at the end of a long long series of flights, and a traffic jam almost the whole way from the airport. We were exhausted and when the taxi finally found Junin, we had to ring the door bell to get into the hotel. However, as soon as we entered the reception area we felt as though... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa San Marcos, a house of treasures Publicado el 10/Noviembre/2011 | 14:51By LANCE BRASHEAR on the Miami HeraldCasa San Marcos - a boutique hotel along what is slowly becoming a cultural corridor in central Quito - was, until recently, a house obscured by time. But the passage of time has a way of not just hiding treasures, but also revealing them when the right person comes along. The name Jose Jaime Ortiz was all but lost as the architect of Casa San Marcos until archives discovered in recent years revealed the hand behind the craftsmanship. Ortiz is now recognized as one of Quito's most formidable architects from the turn of the 18th century and is credited with a dozen structures in Quito including the El Sagrario Church, the reconstruction of La Merced Church, and the tower of Santo Domingo Church. ... more   less
