Casa San Marcos is a beautifully restored colonial mansion in the historic center of Quito. I loved the suite of formal public rooms with very good colonial art and furniture (the place also functions as an antique store). The guest rooms are scattered throughout the house, all quite different and some a bit quirky. I had a large, high ceilinged... More

Stayed 5 days at this hotel, between May 19- 24, 2014. It is located within the historic centre of Quito and within walking distance of the most interesting sites. We stayed in the Altillo (attic) or in the room located under the roof rafters. If you are over 5'4", watch your head, as you are going to bump your head... More

We arrived in Quito at the end of a long long series of flights, and a traffic jam almost the whole way from the airport. We were exhausted and when the taxi finally found Junin, we had to ring the door bell to get into the hotel. However, as soon as we entered the reception area we felt as though... More

When I booked this hotel, I imagine a old and interesting hotel. But when we arrived I notice that was much better than I imagined, was very rich in detail and antique pieces, learned a lot in the hotel. Ms. Maya was gracious and welcomed us as if we were in your home Highly recommend for those who like a... More

To me the essence of Quito is the charm of the old town, the breathtaking views and the amazingly sweet people. All of which is reflected in Casa San Marcos. A boutique hotel in the old town area of Quito with beautifully decorated rooms. My room had amazing views of Quito. I stayed in the panacelio delux. The location is... More

Casa San Marcos is a real treasure. The hotel is most unique - like staying in someone's mansion. The rooms have antique furniture as does the rest of the hotel. The common rooms are unlike anywhere I have stayed. The staff is outstanding. Breakfast in the outdoor patio was a real treat.

Wow, this was a real find. It’s not every day that one can get a room in an actual museum. This quaint hotel is based on a Quito side street and is managed by a very pleasant and helpful team. One can wander through the hotel and peruse a number of mostly colonial art objects while classical music plays on... More

Small, exquisitely appointed, charming boutique hotel in the Historic District. Our review would follow along with what others say, that the hotel is a museum. One could take all day just looking at all the antiques, portraits, and wall paintings. The staff were uniformly wonderful. If one wants to read or just relax in silence, there are several little corners available. Breakfast was a bit uncoordinated but not enough to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa San Marcos, a house of treasures Publicado el 10/Noviembre/2011 | 14:51By LANCE BRASHEAR on the Miami HeraldCasa San Marcos - a boutique hotel along what is slowly becoming a cultural corridor in central Quito - was, until recently, a house obscured by time. But the passage of time has a way of not just hiding treasures, but also revealing them when the right person comes along. The name Jose Jaime Ortiz was all but lost as the architect of Casa San Marcos until archives discovered in recent years revealed the hand behind the craftsmanship. Ortiz is now recognized as one of Quito's most formidable architects from the turn of the 18th century and is credited with a dozen structures in Quito including the El Sagrario Church, the reconstruction of La Merced Church, and the tower of Santo Domingo Church. ... more   less
