My friend and I stayed here and quite enjoyed it. If you appreciate history and antique style you will appreciate this hotel. It was built in the 1800's so don't expect granite and elevators. It is really neat and has a lot of character. Its location is great for exploring the older areas of this city which is the whole... More

My granddaughter and I stayed two nights most recently in this "hotel", but I think it is more or less like a bed and breakfast in a large, Victorian House- not that this is a bad thing, but something to prepare for. There are several floors accessed by long steep steps (no elevator)- the entire place is 100% quaint and... More

This hotel is a welcome step back in time to when large merchant houses overlooked the sea in this wonderful city. Structurally little has changed, even the calendar looks like it could have been operating in the mid 19th century. But do not let this put you off, it's enchanting with all mod cons (sorry no AC) with fine beds... More

If your idea of a hotel is an American chain like Marriot do not contemplate spending a second at this hotel - you'll hate it. If you have - dare I say it - a more European and adventurous attitude - you might relish the experience. It's an old house, somewhat dilapidated, stuffed with mismatched furniture. Each room is unique... More

We booked this hotel as a pre-cruise stay through hotels.com/Delta. It was pre-paid which was a big mistake. Our driver dropped us off as close to the hotel as possible-you cannot pull up in front. We dragged our bags down the street steps and up the front steps of the hotel. There are no elevators and your room could be... More

Cons: The walls are paperthin (hearing too many personal things from neighbours) The breakfast "service" is very friendly but often lacking basics Incomprehensible that the front desk blocks the door and makes entrance very difficult Strange ratio between room size (very small) and bathroom size (very large) - yet the small room is filled with unusable furniture and there's nowhere... This was an adorable lovely old hotel. It was very well maintained and the girl at the front desk was very sweet. Regardless of this, though, I found it unacceptable for the hotel to be blaring techno music past midnight on a Thursday night. The neighborhood was quiet and cute, so it was really just the hotel itself that was... More

I'm on my 5th day of a 6 day stay at Gran Hotel Gervasoni. My average room rate is USD$140 per night. Here is my experience: Pros: - Nice old architecture, common areas are clean. - *Great* location, at the top of a funicular, overlooking the bay, close to (and at the same height as) a great neighborhood for dining... This is an old quaint hotel with great views but you aren't staying in a hotel for the views alone. Sometime you would like to sleep and that never happened here. The rooms are very small and the bathroom so tiny you have to sit sideways on the toilet. The breakfast was minimal and the dining room was not big... More

Noisy: inside and out! Every step on the ancient wooden staircases echo throughout the room (we were in #8). NO A/C, so only ventilation is to open balcony doors, which even when closed do not block out the neighborhood noise. With them open, the noise is unbearable - and no screens, so insets come in. This is a place to... More
