Gervasoni is a beautiful hotel, charming and with character. It ss family owned, and the perfect spot for those who want to visit Valparaiso for a couple of days. Perfect location, walking distance to many bars, restaurants, and the pretty little streets of Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepción.

I wanted to like this hotel very much. I really did. It’s a grand mansion set atop Valparaiso and the staff were nice and helpful, the location was excellent, but somehow it didn’t deliver. Maybe it was the bathroom – a very small bathroom. I am 53 kilos and 157cm tall and I could hardly fit in it. The shower... More

We spent three nights at the Gran Hotel Gervasoni and found it an excellent choice of hotel for Valparaiso. It is in a perfect location for exploring the Cerro Concepción and the Cerro Alegre and is in walking distance of many great restaurants, bars, shops, etc. The Ascensor Concepción is right on your doorstep to get down to the main... Would definitely recommend, the hotel is a historical mansion at a perfect location next to the city elevator. There is a lovely terrace to have breakfast, lunch or drinks, you got to love this place!

The hotel is located in the historic part of Valparaiso. Our room was on the second floor which required a climb on a steep staircase. The room was spacious but the furniture were rather drab and very few amenities were included. Breakfast was very poor with limited choices and terrible coffee. The wait staff was indifferent and requests were ignored.... More

This hotel is a heritage building which is why you would stay here. You probably won't stay anywhere else like it! The great thing about the hotel is that has a big terrace and an attached restaurant, so you can be lazy if you like. Our room had a sweet balcony facing the port. We loved the high ceilings and... The hotel is really fascinating and gives the feeling that it is almost untouched since it was built in the late 19th century. If you have walking difficulties, this is probably not for you. The rooms are spread over a number of floors which are accessed by steep wooden stairs. There are no lifts! Our friends had a large room... More

While visiting Chile I decided to spend one night in Valparaiso as I've heard wonderful things about the place. It decidedly met my expectations. And the hotel I stayed in, the Gervasoni, was a beautiful place to stay with wonderful views and very cozy accommodations. The location was ideal as it was very close to lovely restaurants and streets that... More

I haven't stayed here but I've eaten in the restaurant on the the terrace a few times and really like it. The hotel itself is an old villa-style residence with a most attractive, old world feel. The dining experience is very good, elegant and expensive by Valpo standards but you get what you pay for.

I had the great pleasure of staying at the Gervasoni Hotel for 6 nights from 4th October while in Valparaiso to attend a wedding. This wonderful boutique hotel was recommended by my travel agent and I couldn't have been happier. It is very charming and comfortable, beautifully manintained and is ideally situated. The staff were great, spoke English, and were... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel is set on the very singular Paseo Gervasoni (Gervasoni Walk), one of the most traditional lookout points in the Valparaiso hills. It is located in the heart of an area declared by Unesco to be a World Heritage Site in 2003. Mount Concepcion and Mount Alegre give shape to the attractive surroundings of this exclusive Boutique Hotel. The views of Valparaiso Bay have no equal and restaurants, cafés, stores and countless touristic activities can be found nearbys. The Hotel is the fruit of lengthy restoration work to recover one of the homes of greatest cultural value in the hills of Valparaiso, measuring more than 11,000 square feet. This house was built by European immigrants circa 1870. The imposing building, now transformed into a boutique hotel, uniquely portrays, through its welcoming setting, the lifestyles of the generations of families that lived on the hill. The house’s architecture takes you back in time to the mode of life at the end of the 19th century. Luxury refurbishings concordant to the comforts of a five-star hotel interweave discreetly throughout the patrimonial air in the house, creating just the right cross between tradition and moderness. There are fourteen exclusive suites in the Hotel, each with a private bath, central heating, intercom, satellite television and Wi-Fi. Four of those suites include a hydromassage bathtub, decorated and furnished in the fashion of the era. Each room offers a one-of-a-kind experience: fifteen different ways to gaze at the sea and the hills of Valparaiso. They are fully equipped with all comforts that guarantee a perfect rest. The Breakfast Room and wide terrace, set on the steep edge of the hill, dominate the views of the Bay and the hills of Valparaiso. A buffet breakfast is served here from early on in the day, and it is also an ideal place to spend an afternoon relaxing with a before-dinner drink, blending in with the bayside landscape. The outside terrace is climatized and protected from the wind, yet still permitting vistas of the bay. ... more   less
