The place was clean, nice, calm, relatively well located. The owner was kind, served us the breakfast in person (and it was a great breakfast), and get us a transportation to Santiago's airport. The view is amazing. We just think wi-fi signal was a little weak at 2nd floor.

The most important advantage of this place was the people who run it. They make one feel at home, very welcoming and caring. Cleanliness were superb and the sheets were fresh. The hostel is situated in a very convenient location on a hill overlooking the port. The view is fabulous. There's a downside in that as the port produces much... More

We stayed in the Casa for 3 nights. The Casa is in an excellent location, near enough to everything whilst being in a peaceful area with amazing views of the port and the Valparaiso coast line. It is also at the end of the main turn around point for pretty much all public transport, which means it is really easy... More

Stayed here for 2 nights after an extenuous 15-day 4-wheel driving trip through Argentinean & Chilean Patagonia (just before crossing the Andes again to go back home). If you are driving on your own, be sure you ask for directions before attempting to find the "cerro" by yourself, jaja! Once you get to the house, you can forget about the... More

We stayed with at Casa Hostal 199 at the beginning of December. It was our first stop in Chile and could not have been a better introduction to the country. Ale, Trini and Carlos are great ambassadors. We were made extremely welcome. Trini was busy with Santiago, the latest addition to the family but Ale and Carlos went out of... More

It was a relief to hear that Casa Hostal 199 has survived this year's major earthquake. The hostal provided the perfect end to our two months of travelling in South America. It is perched high on one of Valparaiso's famous hills and provides a wonderful panorama across the city and its harbour. The building is a genuine heritage item and... More

Simple and basic settings but the room we stayed in (captioned) has a balcony that offers you a breathtaking view of the town and the coast line of Valparaiso, either in the day time or at night. Not a surprise considering that the hostal is right next to the view point of May 25. The still functioning funicular certainly has... More

Small B&B/Hostal run by a very friendly and helpful local couple. They, and their staff, go out of their way to assist you and give you suggestions and ideas on what to do and how to do it. Located a little out of town, which was the only downfall here, but easy enough to get to, if you're patient. Taxi... More
